I looked up, putting on my best surprised face as I met Ella’s eyes.

“Ella? Jonas? What are you guys doing here?”

“What are you doing here? I thought you were leaving this afternoon.”

“I thought you were, too. In fact, I saw you leave.”

“Bad weather. They cancelled our flight,” Jonas said with a shrug.

I peered out the window to see a cloudless sky and not a single breeze in the air.

“Not bad weather here, obviously,” Ella said, rolling her eyes.

“I see. Well, that’s too bad. Are you leaving in the morning, then?”

“We’re not sure. They said it might be a few days before they start letting planes in again.”

My heart sank. This was really going to put a damper on my vacation in paradise with Grace if I had to worry about running into Ella and Jonas the whole time.

“So, you never told us why you’re still here?”

“Oh, I just wanted a longer vacation. You know, some time to relax by myself.”

“By yourself?” Ella asked with an eyebrow raised.

“Yes…”

“You sure a certain secret girlfriend won’t be joining you?”

“That would be nice, wouldn’t it?” I said with a smirk.

“So, she’s coming here?”

I ran a hand through my hair and looked back at the menu in my other hand, trying to buy some time.

“Like I said, I’m just going to enjoy some time alone. You guys enjoy your dinner. I’ve heard this place is great.”

Without waiting for a response, I walked out the doors and glanced around for Grace. She was still hiding behind the corner where I left her. I grabbed her hand and we made our way down the sidewalk and back towards the hotel. When we got back to the suite, I finally had a chance to explain everything to Grace.

“Their flight was cancelled. They might be here for a few days.”

“Are you serious? So we just have to hide in here until they leave?”

“Well, we can’t risk them seeing you here. They’ll definitely know something is up.”

“You’re right. So, I guess room service and sex on the balcony it is,” she said with a smile.

“I like the way you think.”

GRACE

The next few days consisted of room service, bad cable movies, and plenty of fun in the bedroom. But I had to admit, being cooped up in the hotel suite with the beach just outside our window was starting to get old.

Dylan and I were both a little stir-crazy, and we needed to get out soon. On the morning of the fourth day after the wedding, Ella finally sent me a text. I had asked her how the honeymoon was a few days ago, and she told me the whole harrowing tale of how they had tried and failed several times to get to their destination.

“We got a flight! Adios Mexico!”
