“It will still be there once everything dies down, make sure you are back tonight. For the rest of you, stay staff and guard each other’s back” With those words the call is cut out leaving all of us in silence until Ceric starts planning the rounds and discussing the security of the club. I think about Druza and how hard everything has been since the day we met, now a war is coming, and I have brought her right into the middle of it.

“Tal, get your mate to contact your brother-in-law and get him in. Draco has tried to get hold of him, but he is being difficult like he usually is” Ceric orders which has Tal grimace. Zane is Draco’s brother, a younger cockier version of Draco that can exhaust anyone’s patience.

“Ill get Violet to phone him,” Tal concedes which has the others teasing him about leaving the hard work to his woman. Violet is Zane’s best friend, which made it difficult for Tal when he first mated with Violet as Zane took it upon himself to protect her.

“I hope Tor is bringing his mate here, or he’s going to be in a foul mood every fucking day with Zane around.” Eirik says as he rocks in his chair, his arms crossed, his eyes closed.

“What’s the plan if we can’t contain the news?” I ask Ceric.

He grunts as he throws up his hands, “we have plans in place, but it all depends on the impact the news will have.” He shakes his head as he stands placing his hands flat on the table, “whatever happens, the most important thing is that we all stick together, or we will be extinguished.” He says this as he looks at every one of us, “we are one, together we will rise, or we will fall, but we will do it together.”

We all raise our right fist to our hearts in unison, we know that we are in trouble because what we have tried to prevent through the centuries has now come to a head. As an Elemental, first we protect our mate and children if we have any, and then we protect the other Elementals. If things get bad it will mean that we will be fighting for our very existence and that could mean our extinction, or human extinction, which we have always protected but which they don’t know. Humans are driven by their fear of what they don’t know, that’s why we have kept our existence a secret for such a long time because if the humans find out about us, they will find out about all the other species out there too.

Pulling back my chair I stand to follow Ceric and the others out, now that Ceric is leaving, Nova won’t be able to plan anything that will help Druza out of her pensive mood, I will have to organize something else that will help my woman. Dag has got people working on trying to find out more information about who her real parents could be, but it seems to be difficult to pinpoint where Druza might have been taken from as the age that they told her she is might be wrong and she might be younger or older for all we know.

Walking towards the kitchen I am brought to a stop when I see all the women sitting around the kitchen table. Nova is sitting next to Druza’s left hand side, both have their eyes closed and Druza is talking, listening to what she is saying reveals that one of the women must have asked her a question and she is telling them what she has seen.

When they both open their eyes, I notice Nova smiling, “it’s amazing how you see what you are saying, it’s like a movie. Jasmine, Wulf’s mate can also see things in the future, but she paints them. Wouldn’t it be great if we all had an Elemental mates get together and see what we can all do if we get everyone together?” The thought has chills rising up my spin.

All our mates have special gifts, but all the women in the Nature Valley Chapter realized that they could join their gifts to help the elementals drive away their darkness. The thought that adding more women with more gifts to that group is an interesting and scary concept as they are as powerful as us in their own ways.

“Well, that isn’t going to happen for a while,” I interrupt as I enter the kitchen which has all of them looking at me. “We are on lockdown from two minutes ago” my statement has most of them grumbling. Looking at Nova I incline my head behind me, “Ceric will be looking for you, Draco is sending the chopper,” I see her frown as she stands.

“How bad is it?” I know better than to try and hide anything from them, especially one of the woman from the main chapter as she is normally privy to most of the things that happen.

“Bad enough to lockdown all the clubs,” I reply.

“I have never been thorough a lockdown, what happens?” Violet asks what most of them are thinking, because for a long time that the Cape Town chapter hasn’t had to go on a lockdown.

“It means that we are not allowed out at all, everyone stays inside until the threat is taken care of.” Nova replies angrily, “I hate lockdowns, it drives me crazy” with those words she pats Druza on the shoulder and then starts making her way out of the kitchen, stopping when she gets next to me. “She’s a good egg, I’m really glad you found her.” She says softly from next to me, “sorry I couldn’t help.”

“Take care and be good or one of these days Draco is going to hang you by your toes.” I tease, which has her smiling in amusement.

“He secretly loves me,” she quips as she continues on her way.

“How long will we be on lockdown?” Freya asks from where she’s now standing, a worried look on her face. All we have ever wanted is peace, and now because of my stupidity we are all at risk, even though there are more videos of other incidents being uploaded it was my incident that spurred everything on.

“I don’t know, at the moment we don’t even know if we will be able to hide the fact that we exist any longer” I don’t believe in hiding anything from the women as they will be part of everything, and if they know what is happening, they might be able to help.

“Are we in danger?” Druza asks, her hair tied back in a ponytail which makes me want to walk towards her, pull that ponytail loose and glide my fingers through her silky hair.

“Not at the moment, but things might get heated up quickly if we aren’t careful.” She nods as she stands to make her way towards me. I notice that she is wearing a flowy light blue shirt that hides her perfect body, her tights a dark blue encasing her sexy legs. When she comes to stand next to me, I slide my arm around her waist to pull her against my side. The feeling of her warmth next to me has the worry and anger of our current situation diminishing.

“You want to go for a walk in the woods?” I know that Druza loves being surrounded by nature and if troubles start, she won’t be able to be outside as much as I know she would like, therefore I want to take her out and make sure that she at least enjoys today, because tomorrow we don’t know how bad it could get.

Her nod has me guiding her out the back door towards the woods. We make our way in silence until we are surrounded by oak trees around us. “It’s so beautiful and quiet here,” she murmurs.

“I want to show you something,” she turns her head in surprise as I guide her further into the woods, I want to show her my special place, the place I always come to so that I can feel closer to all those that I have known and have died. We make our way through the woods for about two hundred meters before we start to hear the gurgling of a stream.

I see Druza’s lips kick up in a soft smile as she looks around. When we finally break through the trees to see the glen before us her gasp has me smiling in pleasure. “This is so beautiful,” she whispers.

“I usually come here when I need to think,” I want today to be a good experience for both of us, an experience that we will remember if times get dark.

“I understand why,” she says as she turns towards me, “thank you for bringing me here, the others have shown me around but not here.” She slides her arms around my waist as she leans her head on my chest. Her sweet fragrance calms my mind, giving me a semblance of peace.

“Haldor,” my name on her lips has me smiling, I love listening to my woman calling my name. “is everything that is happening because of my community?” I shake my head before I answer her concerns.

“No, we haven’t heard from them.” She nods against my chest, “I’m sorry that as soon as you join us, we have to go into lockdown, but I promise you that we are trying to do what is safest for everyone.” She leans back to lift her head so that she is looking up into my eyes.
