The place was a mansion with dim lights mounted on the walls and a humongous chandelier hanging in what would be the foyer of the home. The room to the left had a handful of upholstered settees along the wall, which was wallpapered in a rich, linen material. Intricate sconces set at intervals cast a soft glow over each area. The whole vibe of the place screamed money and kink.

So I was right, the place was straight-up a sex club. So what was different about this one that made Luca ask his uncle for an invite when he could go to The Crucible any time he wanted? The thumping of a fast beat lured me up the grand staircase to the right.

Feeling very much like Alice in Wonderland, I followed the sensual music up the stairs. When I reached the landing, I realized the bouncer hadn’t answered my question. He hadn’t said if Luca was here yet. He also didn’t tell me where to go.

The upstairs was a long corridor with doors on the left side. I placed my hand on the banister and glanced down at the empty foyer. I looked up and counted three more floors with another huge chandelier at the very top.

Where the hell was everybody? I knocked lightly on the third door and then pushed it open.

“Please.” The naked woman standing on her tiptoes with her wrists tied over her head sobbed. “No more.”

“What the hell?”

“You don’t give orders here, beautiful.” The shirtless man standing behind her hit the back of her legs with a switch. “Chin up. Stand up straight.” He demanded. “You belong to me. Do you understand? Tell me why you’re being punished.”

“I let him touch me.”

Well, fuck. Was this some kind of BDSM club then?

I let the door close quietly behind me then stepped away from it. How was I supposed to find Luca in this place? I thought about what I would do if I walked into another room with Luca spanking a naked woman. I’d probably do something stupid like slap Luca across the face like some jealous girlfriend, even though we weren’t even friends.

Obviously, Luca was into this stuff. I thought of the night he spanked me in a public bathroom after I had dinner with Enzo. That night I’d been so surprised that Luca was even talking to me, let alone touching me, that I didn’t even consider the implication of what he was doing and why. He’d been angry that I let Enzo put his hands on me, and that I had hugged him in return. I tried not to think of how our night ended. And how embarrassed I’d been that he had to deal with my drunk ass.

Luca was the one who should be embarrassed. His innocent game wasn’t innocent at all. Did he think of me as his submissive? In his dreams. I glared at the closed door in front of me, picturing the naked woman on the other side writhing in pain. This kinky stuff wasn’t my thing at all. Luca had another thing coming if he thought he could bend me to his will like this.

Granted, I’d already done a lot of the stuff he’d asked, but that was different. I didn’t know what it all meant. Now I had to find him and give him a piece of my mind. I climbed the steps to the next floor, which had one big double door at the far end. As I got closer, I realized this was where the music was coming from. I pulled on the handle and was greeted by a more familiar scene, a night club of sorts, with thumping music and people dancing. Thank God, because now I really needed a drink. Two steps in, someone grabbed me by the elbow.

I turned to glare at the man and his creepy smirk. I yanked at my arm to free myself from him, but he held me in place. “Not so fast. You’re coming with me.”

“In your dreams, buddy.” I gritted my teeth to keep from wincing in pain. The asshole was hurting me. I stood taller and glared at him. “I said no.”

“You can’t say no to me.” He licked his lips as he glared at my chest. “Not in here.”

“I don’t give a shit where we are. Let go.”

“See here?” He showed me the stamp on my wrist. “This says you’re open game.”

“Go to hell.” I turned to leave, but he wrapped his arms around me.

Adrenaline shot through me in an instant. I hated it when Enzo was right. I never should’ve come here alone. Did the bouncer figure out my business card was fake? He marked me as open game—the stamp he put on my wrist meant anyone in this building could have me as their submissive?

My heart thrashed in my ears. This was not how I thought tonight would go. “Let me go. This was a mistake.”

“You’re so fucking beautiful. I doubt you were a mistake, sweetheart.” He bent down to kiss me on the mouth. I moved my face out of the way and his lips landed on my neck. For some reason that amused him. “Like I said.” He chuckled.

“Get your hands off her. She’s mine.” Luca’s sinful voice was music to my ears. “I won’t ask again.”

The man with the creepy smirk slowly let me go. I shuffled out of the way and turned to face Luca. Of course, he looked angry at me. And, of course, he looked crazy hot in a tuxedo. He spared all of two seconds to give me a once-over before he turned his attention back to the asshole who thought he had a claim on me.

I glanced behind me toward the ballroom full of people. Not one of them had noticed my altercation with the stranger. My stomach rolled as realization washed over me. The guy had been right. Other than Luca, no one would’ve bothered to stop him. What kind of a fucked-up club was this? The bouncer tricked me. Sure, I came here of my own accord, but he should’ve told me what I was agreeing to when I accepted the stamp.

“Let’s go.” Luca gripped my elbow and ushered me toward the grand staircase.

“Let me go.” I tried to pull away from him.

He hissed, then brought me closer to capture my mouth with his. His searing kiss was enough to make me forget about what almost happened. I had missed this rush I felt every time Luca touched me. He was my drug. God, I had missed it. With a low moan, I ran my hands inside his tuxedo jacket to feel the muscles there.

His heart beat fast under my touch as he sucked on my lip then moved down to my neck “Don’t fight me on this one, Donata. You’re not safe here.”
