“Is the lift broken?” I ask,but then the liftchimes, the doors open, and out steps Mrs. Glow from 10C.

“Hello, dear,” she says on her way past, pausing for a brief second when she sees Jase but says nothing.

“Get inside,” I tell him and go in, letting the door drift closed behind me. He grabs it before it fully closes and makes his way in after me before it does.

“Something smells great. Are you cooking?”

“You said dinner.”

“I did, but I thought we’d go out. You didn’t have to...”

“I don’t eat out. I prefer to cook. You do eat steak, don’t you?” I ask.

“Yep, it’s my second favorite meat to have in my mouth.”

I drop the knife, and it clamors to the ground right beside my foot.

Jase peers over the counter to look.

“Oh, thank fuck. That could have been the shortest management stint in history.”

I’m looking at the knife on the floor beside my pinkie toe. An inch to the left and it would have taken it clean off.

Jase rounds the counter and grabs the knife, rising slowly, holding it between two fingers like it might turn around and bite him. My head spins as his scent fills my nose.

“Do you want me to do anything?” he asks, dropping the knife in the sink.

Stop looking at me. I can’t say that without sounding like a total douche, so I just shake my head.

“Are you sure?”

“I just need to plate everything. You can sit. I’ll bring it over.”

Jase moves to the table, and I grab a new knife to slice the steaks. With everything plated, I take them over, but Jase licks his lips when I set his meal in front of him, and heat pools in my groin.

“This smells and looks amazing.”

You smell and look amazing.

“I didn’t know you cook,” he says, grabbing his fork.

I quickly take my seat before he spots my growing erection. “It’s nothing fancy.”

“I can hardly boil rice. This is awesome.”

“You had some questions?” I ask, hoping to turn my focus to work and not on the way his tongue darts out of his mouth every now and again to swipe his lower lip. The sooner he knows what he needs, the sooner he will be out of my apartment and I can stop fantasizing about jumping the young rookie at my table.

“Ah huh.” He shoves a fork full of baked carrots and steak into his mouth, moaning a little while he chews. My cock throbs.

Fuck, what is this guy doing to me?

Jase puts down his knife and fork and reaches into his jacket pocket, pulling out a folded piece of paper.

“So, you’ve never agreed to any endorsements. Can you tell me more about that?” Jase asks, and I’m a little impressed he’s jumped right in with the big question and not tried to work his way up to it with random, unimportant crap.

“I don’t want to stick my name on a bunch of stuff I don’t support for money, and I have zero interest in being famous.”

“But you kind of are already.”
