“If you run for it, I will kick you where it hurts and tie you up until you talk.”

The blazing fury in her eyes had drawn him to her all those centuries ago. As a vampire, she’d grown into the strength of steel he’d seen in her human self.

He should go. Put as much distance between the two of them as he could. Then perhaps she would forget everything.

It was what he should’ve done centuries ago. But he couldn’t. He’d never had the strength to resist her.

“Is that supposed to scare me?”

When he prowled toward her, she stood her ground. He halted when their bodies touched and savored her curves against his hard strength. Her soft body hid an unrelenting force only an imbecile would underestimate.

“Stop distracting me,” she said.

“But you’re impossible to resist.” When he nibbled on her neck, she moaned and leaned into him. “Maybe you should tie me up after all?”

She pushed his shoulders and sent him flying back against the wall. He grunted when pain stabbed into his healed shoulder and back. Gabby pinned his hands to his sides.

“We are talking about it,” she growled.

His body came alive at the challenge in her voice. He’d loved the gentle and sweet human Gabby, the light to his darkness, but in the last few days, he learned he loved a bloodthirsty and ruthless mate as well.

“No, we’re not.” He could dislodge her but chose to rub his erection against her stomach and smiled slyly when her pupils dilated. “I have something more fun in mind.”

Red edged into the corners of her eyes. The swirling mix of lust and anger turned him on even more. She leaned forward until less than an inch separated their lips. The heat of her breath brushed over him, igniting the fire in his gut. “Are you afraid?”

She tilted her head back when he attempted to kiss her, but her hold on him didn’t loosen one bit.

She was strong.

“Hmm.” A seductive smile curved her lips. She rubbed against his length.

Felix hissed out a breath. God damn it, he needed her. Forget about talking.

He flexed his arms and flipped them around, but she slipped out of his grip and was on the other side of the room in a blink.

“Come back here.”

She dodged away, nimble as a nymph, when he chased her. At a certain point, they left the living area and Felix chased her up the stairs.

I’ll let you win, if you agree to talk.

I’m going to catch you, tesoro mio. And you’ll regret this.

Taunting laughter flowed through him, warm and comforting as the sunshine.

Felix rounded a turn. She was waiting and swiped his knees from under him. As he fell, he dragged her down with him, careful not to hurt her.

Gabby rolled on top of him, her eyes glowing a mixture of red and blue. The chase had left them both panting and burning with desire.

When she kissed him, fire exploded in his veins. He tangled his hand in her silky hair and slid his tongue into her mouth. She tasted like lavender and the sun. Like life and hope and love.

Their kiss transformed into an all-consuming, fiery tornado, sweeping away thoughts and reservations. He sent her the burning desire engulfing him along the mating bond. She rocked her core against his length, and he groaned. When they broke apart, all Felix wanted was to take her then and there.

Who cares if they were in a random hallway in the middle of the house? She was their Mistress. He was her mate.

The other vampires would’ve seen worse.

“Stop blaming yourself for my death.”
