“Winesty, Princess.” He pinches my chin between his thumb and index finger, locking me in his gaze.

I groan. “I’m the first woman you brought here. It makes me feel ridiculously accomplished.” I show him my tongue, to soften the neediness.

Gio laughs. “Princess, you’re accomplished for many other reasons. And I assure you, you don’t need to be jealous of anyone.”

I know it’s just words. I know that I’m so blissfully and thoroughly fucked, my mind is missing common sense and rationale, but somehow this date feels special. More special than he’s had with his other women. I wish there were no other women. I don’t want to think about them.

“Mila,” he growls. “The winesty continues. I can see the war behind those beautiful eyes.”

“The NDA…” Am I really going to go there?

“What about it?” He stops drawing the circles. I haven’t even said anything and the air in the room has shifted. Gio’s shoulders tense. He’s studying me with hooded eyes, but his jaw is rigid.

“It doesn’t mention exclusivity…” I recoil as if the words were poison despite my uttering them. I don’t know why I’m so insecure about this. I don’t want to see Gio withdrawing now when we’ve just woven a fragile net of understanding and togetherness.

“I didn’t particularly care.” He shrugs and rolls on to his back, covering his eyes with his forearm.

I guess that’s that. Deflated, I admire his tensed features for a moment, and then turn my back to him, hoping I can fall asleep. I don’t make it halfway before his strong hands grab me.

I yelp, my back sinking into the sheets as Gio’s weight pins me down. The fire in his eyes is intoxicating. I know it would burn me, but I can’t help leaning into it. Flames. Inferno. Pure lava of lust.

“I didn’t care. Until now.” He kisses me roughly. “And make no mistake, Princess. You as much as look at another man and I’ll destroy the fucker.”

There is no doubt in my mind that his threat is serious. I should recoil and run, but instead my lips stretch into a smile. I’ve just gotten a vow of exclusivity from Giovanni Cassinetti. I can’t claim it was the most conventional declaration, but then he doesn’t really do normal.

“There is no one else, Gio.”

He seizes my lips and things escalate quickly. Who needs to sleep anyway.

Chapter17

Gio

“Oh my God.”

Mila’s squeal penetrates my sleep, and when her foot painfully connects with my thigh, the awakening is complete.

“What’s going on?” I push up on to my elbows, the pleasant breeze tickling my naked ass. When was the last time I slept naked and woke up next to a woman?

And what a woman! Mila’s mussed hair and swollen lips, her silky face irritated from my whiskers are adorable. She clutches the sheets, covered up to her neck, and stares beyond my shoulder.

“Mila, baby, did you have a nightmare again?” I get to my knees and try to gather her in my arms.

“Put something on. Someone is by the pool,” she shrieks.

What the fuck? I turn and chuckle, plopping back to the bed and pulling her to me. “It’s just Conrad’s security. I guess they do the rounds at this hour. Why aren’t you sleeping?”

“Why are they here?” She tries to arrange the sheets around us in a desperate attempt at decency.

A memory of my weekend here with Conrad pre-Nora flickers through my mind, and I’m pretty sure that the guard has seen my ass and more. Not that I want those memories here right now.

“Because we’re here. He has a firm to handle the security, so I didn’t bring mine.”

She lifts her head, still clutching the sheets under her chin. On the second thought, fuck my ass, I hope the guard didn’t ogle Mila’s naked body. Annoyed, I look outside and push the button by my nightstand.

The engine hums and the shutters roll down.

“Come back to sleep, Princess.” I wrap her in a tight embrace. Another first. Since when do I cuddle?
