“Mom, are you sure?”

Angela touches Katy’s arm. “I’m sure. I insist.”

“Jackal will keep you company,” Katy says, rubbing her mother’s arm.

She turns to me with a seemingly dangerous smile as if she’s finally ready to give herself to me. Give me every single inch of her.

“I can’t believe Mom’s okay with this,” Katy says as we walk into the elevator.

“Me neither,” I whisper, “but she deserved the truth.”

“I guess she knows I can make my own decisions.”

As the elevator doors close, I turn and press her against the wall. She makes that cute-as-fuck gasping noise like she’s surprised by how good it feels. I grab her hips and sink my hands into them, finally claiming her like I should have the first time, feeling her thick body. She moans as I push my dick against her belly. I want her womb. I want her.

The door beeps, and I quickly step away, knowing I can’t stand the idea of another man seeing Katy like this, so ready for me. I wouldn’t be able to tolerate it. Luckily, it’s a kind-faced elderly woman who limps into the booth. Katy looks over at me, her smile wide, cheeks red. She looks like she’s having so much fun. We walk onto the street together, my hand on the small of her back, feeling the heat of her body through her clothes.

“I’m never letting you go,” I whisper in her ear, leading her to the jackal. “Never, Katy.”

“I don’t want you to.” She leans against me, causing my manhood to ache, my dick bulging when I feel her heat. “I just want you. Nobody else.”

“I’m never running from you again.” Looking around the underground lot, I push her gently against the jackal, kissing her fiercely. She pushes her hand against my chest, moaning in the sexiest way. “I’m going to be right here, Katy, always.”

“Always,” she whispers, staring into my eyes, looking so dreamy, so perfect.

I kiss her, owning her and claiming her. I kiss her harder.

Then she moans, “Sam, I brought the cuffs.”

I lean back and look down at her. She stares up, blinking, eyes wide and aroused as hell. “I brought the cuffs… if you wanted to use them.”

CHAPTER 27

Katy

I wring my hands in the passenger seat as he drives calmly through the city. It’s quiet now, but I feel wired and alert. I feel ready for anything, even as nerves jolt through my body in waves, trying to twist me up. They try to tell me I won’t be able to be perfect my first time.

Yeah, so what? This isn’t about perfection. It’s not about performance. It’s not so I can brag about my sexual skills. It’s me and my man, the quiet of the night, and all the things we’ve shared whelming between us, the secrets, the pain, and the love.

“I want to say something,” I whisper.

He glances at me, his jaw tight. His eyes are intense. He’s wearing a plain gray T-shirt, tight around his arms. “Anything.”

“But it’s one of those things you don’t want to be the first to say.”

He looks again and smirks with that tugging at the corner of his lip that struck me like a lightning bolt the first time I saw him. “Then you better say it. I know what it is, and I feel the same. I felt it the first time I saw you. People say it’s impossible at first sight, but I felt it.”

I smile and punch him playfully in the side. One part of me is a detached observer. I’m endlessly fascinated that we can banter and flirt despite everything that’s happened, despite all the reasons we should be broken. Together, we’re whole.

“If you’re going to say all that, shouldn’t you just say it?”

He smirks and raises an eyebrow. “But we’re playing a game now, Katy.”

How are we doing that? How is this so fun? How can the mere fact I’m close to this man soothe everything else? “Yeah, and I’m going to win.”

He laughs lightly. “I loved you the first time I saw you. I loved you so much that it hurt thinking about letting you go. I tried to fight, but it was love. I love you.”

I touch his arm and squeeze tightly. “I love you too. I just hope you still want me when I’m all swollen.”

“Swollen?” he asks.

I gesture to my belly. “You know. When I get super big, and I’m not talking from a stuffed-crust pizza.”

He grins. “You’re always going to be attractive to me. Desirable in every single way. Whether you’re pregnant with baby number one, two, three, four…”

“Wait a second…”

“Five, six, seven.”

I giggle, almost gripping my side. It feels like a giggle, not a laugh, the carefree release I used to watch in the other girls. I’d quietly eat my lunch alone, looking across the cafeteria, wondering if they’d ever had any problems. It feels like that, and I’m done questioning it and wondering how.
