He smirked and then prowled toward me, and I instinctively moved back, making way for him to come in. My heart picked a beat as I watched him walk to my living room and settle on one of the sofas.

I don’t like this.

I didn’t lock the door before joining him in the living room. Aaron had never been violent, but I couldn’t ignore the shivers shooting down my spine right now. I wanted to be able to run if something happened. “What do you want, Aaron?” I asked cautiously, careful not to provoke him into doing something stupid.

His gaze trailed to my stomach and stopped. It was instinctive for me to cover my stomach with my hands. “You’re pregnant?” He wasn’t stating or asking. It sounded more like he was accusing.

I gasped. “Don’t be ridiculous.”

His lips formed into a creepy smile. “Am I? How far along are you?”

My nostrils flared. I barred my teeth and flew to my feet, my fists clenching. “It’s not your business if I’m pregnant. Must I remind you how you cheated on me, got engaged to another woman behind my back, and married her?”

“So what? Were you cheating on me all along yet acted the victim?”

“What? No!” Why was I trying to defend myself as I owed him any answers? “You know, I think it’s time for you to leave. How did you even find out I was pregnant?”

He cocked his brows.

An alarm set off inside my head, making my stomach rumble nervously. “Have you been stalking me?”

“I wasn’t stalking you. I only followed you because I was worried about you.”

I bit back a bitter laugh. “Thanks for your concern. Now leave my house.” I gestured towards the door. “Leave before I call the cops.”

He got up, turned as if to leave but suddenly whirled back to me. “First, you’ve got to tell me who the fucker you were cheating on me with is.”

“No, I don’t.”

He took a step closer, and I took two steps away from him. “You made me feel like the devil for hurting you.” His voice was low, calm, but dangerous. “All the while, you were cheating on me. How could you, Giselle?”

As my pulse surged, I realized the danger I was in. Aaron could hurt me right here and now if he wanted. He could kill me, and no one would know what happened. “I-I didn’t cheat on you,” I muttered.

“Then how are you pregnant?” He closed the gap between us, and I fell onto the sofa behind me, my body paralyzed with fear. “We didn’t have sex for weeks before our break up.”

“That doesn’t mean I cheated.”

He narrowed his eyes on me. “Is this why you didn’t let me touch you? Because you were fucking someone behind my back.” He bent over the sofa, spreading his arms to both ends of the upholstery and caging me in. “Who else were you fucking, you slut?”

Tears prickled my eyes. “I wasn’t fucking anyone.”

He smirked. “Dirty little thing.” He wrapped his fingers around my neck, squeezed it hard enough for me to stop breathing, and lowered his mouth to mine.

I closed my eyes, refusing to witness what was going on, only feeling the warm liquid trickling down my cheeks.

My mind must’ve blanked out as well because when I opened my eyes again, Aaron was on the floor, writhing in pain. A giant-looking man in black jeans, a black turtle neck, and a leather jacket had his foot on Aaron’s head.

His dark eyes and onyx hair reminded me of Nikolai. They both had the same handsome features and tall, athletic bodies, except the one in front of me looked like a younger version of him.

There were four other men in the same black suits. I had no idea how they came in—it must’ve been through the door since I didn’t lock it.

“Get rid of this mess,” the one in the leather jacket commanded. He smoothened his jacket and walked to me.

I froze when my eyes met his icy gaze. He wasn’t frowning or anything, but the blank mask he was wearing made me shiver.

His lips formed a smirk. “Hi, Giselle. I’m Vlad. You have to come with me.”

I recoiled on the couch, pushing myself in until there was nowhere else to go. “No.”
