“Oh, don’t get shy now, Kohl, we all know you secretly like it,” she tutted.
“Anyway,” I said after clearing my throat. “We have a few contestants we have our eye on for this year. Let’s bring them up.”
“First is Camilia Slater, going by cam_g1rl this year—Oh wow, that’s… an outfit,” Vic said, hardly concealing her laughter.
An image of a muscular brunette with a cowboy hat and a tank top stretched tight around their chest showed up on the screen. They didn’t look like a Killer for sure, not with the blinding smile they gave the camera.
“Coming from a private school funded by The Company, we are looking forward to what type of show they put on,” Vic said, leaning her head against her palm in an almost annoyed fashion. “If The Company investsthatmuch money into their education, they have to be deadly.”
“Next we have Aubrey Westion, known in this game as w1ckd_w3st—”
“Someone who went to the same school as us,” Vic piped in. “Watch out for this one, babes. Head cheerleaders are known for two things: their flexibility and ruthlessness.”
We should have been unnerved at seeing someone close to us, but neither of us paused. Maybe it was the thousands of dollars being deposited into our bank account every few minutes that caused our apathy.
“And then last but not least, Hiram Wolff,” Vic said, this time looking at the camera with a sinister smile. One I had only seen her show in the games. “We all know what he did to get in here, and I’m sure somanyof you want to take your anger out on an Architect, but let me sweeten the deal for you.”
Vic leaned forward, putting her hands on the desk in front of us and staring right into the millions of viewers watching our stream.
“Whoever kills Hiram will get paid out a million dollars,regardlessof whether you win the games,” she said, her lips twisted. “Hell, I’ll even cut the check myself. If you can make me laugh while you’re doing it, I’ll double it.”
She was the most twisted and evil thing I’d ever seen… and I fucking loved it.
