I slipped my hand from between her legs and wrapped both arms around her, giving her time to decide.
She took my breath away. With anyone else, I would have complete control of the situation, but with her, I always found myself floundering to keep some type of hold on the situation.
Even now, she could tell me to doanything, and I’d gladly comply without a moment's hesitation.
“I’m pissed at you,” she admitted after a moment.
“I didn’t know it was you,” I said, holding her. “Believe me when I say I would give my life for you, Vic.”
It was more than that, but my devotion to her couldn’t be said in words. I wouldn’t just give my life for her. I would throw it away. Mold it into something—anything—she needed it to be.
She didn’t even have to ask. I’d done the hardest part already, and no matter what, I planned to see it through.
Everything,every single fucking thing, was for her. My thoughts, my actions, every breath I took all belonged to her.
That was my gift to my goddess after everything. A way to show just how much she meant to me, the depths of my devotion.
“Your life, huh?” she said, a smile twisting her face. “And if I ask for you to prove it? What then?”
Quicker than she could stop me—I let go of her, collected a discarded fragment of the broken mirrored glass, and brought it to my heart. Her fingers dug into me. One hand on my shoulder, the other on my wrist, stopping me from pushing the glass through my heart.
“No hesitation,” I said, holding her gaze as I pushed the point into my skin, forcing a drip of crimson blood to well at the surface.
If my life had to end here to extend hers, I’d do it. No problem.
Vic stared at the point of contact, but it wasn’t with concern. There something in her eyes that caused my heart to skip a beat, something that looked a lot like excitement.
“Does it hurt?” she asked, her breathing shallow.
“It will,” I grunted, attempting to fight her grip and push the jagged edge deeper into my skin, welcoming the pain.
Her mouth covered mine again, this time kissing me back just as fervently as I did to her. I moaned into her mouth, ready to drop the broken piece of mirror, but her wrist kept it over my heart instead of stopping its descent.
She could, at any moment, force it through chest and stop my heart. I wouldn’t fight her on it. But just the little show of how much control she had, paired with the way our teeth and tongues clashed together, was enough to make my mind whirl.
“I need you to win the game,” she whispered against my lips. “So don’t kill yourself… but I will need some serious vows from you to be sure you won’t kill me as soon as my back is turned.”
“Take my top off,” I ordered. She pulled back, giving me a look before doing exactly as I said. I dropped my weapon until it was off and placed it over my heart, but this time I didn’t let her stop me as I dragged it against my skin.
“Kohl,” she breathed when she realized the letter I was carving right over my heart.
Satisfaction burst in my chest when I saw the way her gaze darkened. The carving hurt like a bitch. But seeing how she looked at me as I branded myself as hers made it soworth itthat I barely noticed the lingering ache.
