“Soviolent,” I commented in a teasing tone. “And zombies? I never took you for the type.”

Her head finally whipped toward me, and there was a moment of confusion before recognition splashed across her face.

Then panic.

Her eyes widened, and her mouth popped open, showcasing the pink tongue just beyond. Pushing past the anxiety, I let myself feel the pang of arousal she sent through me.

Soon I would get to taste her again. The thought caused my mouth to water.

“Quinn?” she asked in a low voice. “How did you—I mean, we probably shouldn’t—”

I motioned for her to be quiet by putting a finger to my lips. Her eyes shot around to the dark arcade around us. No one was looking at us, but the weight of the people who lingered just outside was heavy in the air.

“It’s nice to meet you,” I said, holding my hand out for her. “Blake, right? Or do you prefer…?”

I let the question linger between us.Tiffanywas right on the tip of my tongue, especially since she decided to use my real name. The petty part of me wanted to level the playing field but I needed to make her trust me first.

She looked at my hand for far longer than she needed to.

“I won’t attack you in public if that’s what you’re worried about,” I said with a light laugh. Her eyes shot to mine.

“In private then?” she asked, her brow raising.

My smile widened. “I guess you’ll just have to see, won’t you?”

She looked again behind her, as if she expected the agents to storm the place. The noises from the machines would hide our conversation from anyone around us, even the agents outside. I doubt they noticed that I had removed the bug they stuck on her game and moved it to one not far away.

They were all out back in one of the minivans, half of them bored out of their minds and messing around on their phones. They didn’t give two shits about what she did in here.

So it was perfect for what I needed.

Slowly, her smaller hand slipped into mine. I had the strongest urge to yank her closer, so I gave into it. Something I learned with Blake is that if I waited too long, someone was bound to interrupt, so I needed to take the initiative when it hit.

She let out a small gasp when I leaned forward and brushed my lips against the shell of her ear. Her reactions only fed my ego.

“I meant what I said about the crowd,” I murmured. “And about you.”

The sound of her swallowing could just be heard over the noise around us. I inhaled deeply, savoring her scent. It was musky from her sweetness, mixed with a sweet rainforest smell that caused my mouth to water.

“Are you following me?” she asked with a slight tremor in her voice. Was she scared? Already?

“Yes,” I admitted. Blake didn’t seem like a person who would get over my lies easily. So for this at least, coming clean was necessary. “I wanted you alone.”

She pulled away and looked up at me from under her lashes. Her cheeks were dusted with a light pink.So she’s not scared…but something else?

I didn’t like just how much I was willing to fold for the agent as soon as she showed even the slightest reaction to me.

“You can call me Blake here too,” she said. “I prefer it.”

I nodded and reached down to take the fake gun she was still clutching in her hand. I let my fingers brush across hers as I took it, an electric-like heat bursting through me.

“Well,Blake,”I said, letting a smirk spread across my lips. “Let’s make a deal, hm? If I beat you in a game, you take me to your place.”

The blush left her face almost immediately, and she leaned back.

“How do you know I still want you after you rejected me?” she asked, raising her brow. There was a teasing smile playing on her lips. “Maybe you lost your chance.”

I couldn’t help the light chuckle that escaped my lips. For the first time since I took this job, my chest started to loosen, and a light feeling filled me.
