Benjamin lets us go, and wipes at his face, threading his fingers in Tanner’s. “I’m so glad I have my first son here for this news. You don’t know how much this means.” He continues to take little gasping breaths, wiping under his eyes every second or so. “How is this possible? My gynecologist said there wasn’t much hope.”

The urgent care doctor opens a cabinet behind him and pulls down a pill bottle. “I can’t answer that, Mr. Stewart. The only thing I can do for now is give you these prenatal vitamins and urge you to make an appointment with your primary care physician so you can start the care for you and baby.”

We all nod, Benjamin gripping both our hands tightly.

When the doctor takes his leave, Benjamin leans back on the exam room table. “I can’t believe it. It’s like everything I’ve ever wanted is happening. I’m getting it all.” He looks between me and Tanner. “Is this a dream? Will I wake up and none of this is real?”

Bending down, I kiss Benjamin, then bite down on his bottom lip. “Ow! Rome!”

Chuckling, I run my thumb over his lower lip, soothing the pain. “This isn’t a dream, my little omega. You have me, Tanner, and this little guy.” I say, placing my hand on his belly. Now that I feel it, it seems to be a little bit of a bump. Not enough to notice immediately, but his stomach definitely feels a little harder with a roundness to it.

“You didn’t have to bite me,” he mutters, pulling his lip into his mouth. “A simple pinch would have sufficed.” Tanner pinches him and Benjamin gives him the evil eye. “You arenottoo old to ground, young alpha.”

Tanner laughs, pulls Benjamin up and throws his arms around him. “Th-th-th-thank you. For w-w-wanting me.”

“Always,” my mate whispers, kissing Tanner’s hair. “You still need a haircut.”

Laughing freely, Tanner pulls out of Benjamin’s arms and comes over to me, throwing them around my shoulders. I pat his back, my throat suddenly tight because of his gratitude and the news that I’m not just a father of one, but two, all in the same day.

We take Benjamin home and wait on him hand and foot. He doesn’t like it, but Tanner and I don’t care. The only thing we let him do on his own is use the bathroom. I’m even there when he takes a shower—though he doesn’t complain about that.

The next morning, Benjamin tells us he wants to go to Brandon’s house to tell him about the events of the day before. “And you have to meet your uncles,” he tells Tanner, whose eyes grow glassy.

Benjamin keeps up a steady stream of conversation as we head out to the farmhouse Mason owns. Benjamin told me the story of how Mason and Brandon met and I think it’s the most fairytale shit I’ve ever heard and just as cute.

He goes on and on, telling me and Tanner how they met—though I already know—and how close they are. He has so much to say about Brandon that we’re unable to get a word in until we pull into the driveway.

“You get to meet Zane, Brandon’s baby. The most adorable baby ever. And he’s such a joy. I usually babysit a few times a month because I just love his squishy little cheeks. You can bond with him when I have him. It’ll be fun. He’s—” Benjamin stops talking and I glance at him to see what’s up. He’s facing Tanner in the backseat. I look in the rearview mirror and see the pinched look on Tanner’s face. “What’s wrong?” my mate asks.

“What if th-th-they don’t l-l-l-like me?” His small voice breaks my heart.

“Oh, Tanner. They’ll love you. I promise. They like Rome and he was an asshole to me for about six months. Imagine the horror stories I told them about this old lug,” Benjamin says, thumbing towards me. A small smile crosses Tanner’s face. “I’ve told them all about you. They can’t wait to meet their new nephew. And I can’t wait to show you off.”

Inhaling slowly, Tanner nods, smiling once again at Benjamin. I love the trust he has in my mate. Regardless of the shit his father put him through, he’s able to let his guard down for him. It warms my heart that they found each other and that Benjamin is getting everything he’s always wanted.

After reassuring Tanner, we hop out of the car and make our way to the screened in porch. I look around, loving the mountain landscape and how the farmhouse has a nice, rustic feel. It’s a place you can come to unwind, since it’s on the outskirts of Fair Falls, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Before Benjamin can knock, the door is thrown open and Brandon wraps his arms around Benjamin’s neck. “It’s about time you came to visit. Zane has been asking about you.”

A bright laugh bursts from Benjamin. “Did he?” he asks playfully.

“Of course, he—” Brandon pulls back, holding Benjamin at arm’s length. He stares at him for a few seconds, then shakes his head, looking around him. “Oh, Gods! Tanner! Come here!”

Brandon bounds over to the child, pulling him into a long hug. Tanner is slow to wrap his arms around him, but eventually, he does, letting Brandon rock him from side to side. “N-n-n-n,” Tanner stops and takes a deep breath. “Nice to mmm-meet you.”

“Same. Come on in, you can meet my alpha.” Brandon turns to me and gives me a hug as well. “Hey, Rome. I see you all are really cozy.” He has a twinkle in his eye and I wonder at it, but we hear a screeching laugh coming from inside.

With a smile, Benjamin heads inside, beelining to the alpha and child sitting on the floor. Not missing a beat, he scoops the child up, holding him in the air. The child gurgles and babbles, a line of drool falling from his mouth. Like a pro, Benjamin dodges it, still holding the baby in the air and talking to him.

Mason shakes his head with a gentle smile and stands. “There’s no hope of me playing with my son until this one leaves,” he says, thumbing to Benjamin and Zane. He walks over and holds his hand out to Tanner. “It’s nice to finally meet you. Although it wasn’t much, Benji told us all about you.”

Tanner’s eyes are wide, I’m sure taking in the enormity of Mason’s form. He’s taller than me by a few inches and his shoulders are much wider. He has a soft belly that I saw Brandon rubbing when we were at lunch, almost absentmindedly. I can only imagine he does it often when they’re alone.

Instead of answering, Tanner nods and stands closer to me, where I wrap an arm around his shoulders. I think I know what the issue is, but I have to ask when we’re alone. I don’t want to embarrass him if he’s not ready to talk.

We take a seat, Benjamin on the floor with the baby, Tanner beside me, and Mason sitting in a recliner with Brandon on his lap, Brandon caressing his belly.

There’s silence for a few beats, then Brandon says, “So … how are things going?” Again, that light sparkles behind his eyes as he looks at Benjamin.
