I smile as I roll onto my back and sigh softly as I think about last night.

It was perfect. And it is all because of Kian.

I want every night to be like that,I think before rolling onto my side.

Kian didn’t just give me the ultimate pleasure last night, he also took care of me. He took care of each part of my body and made sure that I wasn’t in any pain.

No one else could have done it better. The thought is certain and sure, and I know that it is the truth.

But my mood changes quickly as I think about Kian’s memories.

How much time do we actually have together?

It has been two weeks since I met Kian. Or rather, since I saved his life.

It has been two weeks of hard work, taking care of him, helping him heal, and doing more for him than I have ever done for any human before.

The only beings I have taken care of the way I have taken care of Kian are the wolves.

It has been two weeks of dealing with a stubborn, giant orc, who could have, as soon as he was healed, killed me at any time.

But the stubbornness has faded, and he has been nothing but kind to me.

One.

Time is running out. That is all I can think of as I lay there. Last night was perfect, but what happens when Kian’s memories come back?

What happens if my fears are correct, and he actually has a wife and children waiting for him?

What happens if they come looking for him?

For orcs, humans are the ultimate enemies. We are prey to their predator nature.

Kian is probably just an outlier, an anomaly.

My thoughts become low as the aftermath of last night ebbs away from me. I am still just a human, and if Kian’s family comes looking for me, I know that I won’t survive.

It has been one day since Kian was officially recognized by the pack. It has been one day since he saved me from the lion.

It has been one day since he risked his life for mine.

The pack has changed forever, just from having Kian’s presence among us.

Some of the wolves might still not be happy about having an orc around, but after that kill, they all accept him now.

I never thought I would see something like this happen. I never thought I would witness the wolves bend their rules to include an orc in their family.

Because, whether they like him or not, now the wolves see Kian as family.

Kian is part of the pack.

Twenty.

I sit up and watch as the cold morning sunlight filters in through the tree cover. Birds are whistling somewhere close by, and I can hear a field mouse foraging for seeds and nuts in the forest’s undergrowth.

I need to get up soon. The pack will be looking for me at some point, and we need to transport the meat back home where I can store it properly.

My thoughts turn from Kian to the pack as I sit and reflect on my life.
