“I need you to come for me, Emerson. Your pussy feels too good, baby. I’m not going to last. I need you to—” I don’t get to finish before she’s calling out my name. Her pussy grips me like a warm, wet vise, and I release inside her.

She falls forward, resting against my chest. I wrap my arms around her as we both catch our breath. When she’s finally recovered enough, she lifts her head and smiles. I feel that smile deep in my chest.

“When can we do that again?” she asks.

I laugh. “You’re going to be sore,” I tell her.

“Worth it.” She moves to lie next to me and scrunches up her nose. “Messy.”

“Worth it,” I repeat her words, making her laugh.

I want to spend the rest of my life pulling that sound from this woman.

ChapterTwenty-Four

Emerson

I walk into Everlasting Ink, carrying two enormous bags of takeout from Olive Garden. I was in Nashville today for a job interview and decided to grab the guys a special dinner. They refused to take any money for helping Monroe and me move home from college, so this is their thank you. I made sure to order lots of extra breadsticks because they fight over them like children.

Not that I blame them. Olive Garden breadsticks are the best.

My interview just happens to be on a day that all five of the guys are at the shop. It’s been happening more often as they get busier. They’re all working crazy hours as their popularity grows. They love every minute of it. I’m so proud of them. It’s nice to be here to witness all of their hard work and dedication paying off.

Roman says he’s prepared to walk away, but it won’t come to that. I have faith that I can talk some sense into my brother. He might need some time to cool down once we tell him, but I’ll fight, beg, and plead for him to see that this is what I want.

I want Roman.

“Hey, Emerson. Let me help you.” Lyra rushes around the counter and takes one of the bags from me. “What’s all this?” she asks.

“A thank-you for the guys for helping Monroe and me move home. They wouldn’t take money.”

“You know they’re going to try to pay you back for all of this too.” She laughs.

“I’ve gotten good at dodging them over the years. I’ll just make them feel guilty.”

“Teach me your ways, ole wise one.”

“Hey, I hear you’re doing incredible. You and Drake have been great additions to the Everlasting Ink team.”

“Em?”

I bite down on my cheek to keep from smiling at the sound of Roman’s voice. Slowly, I turn. “Hey, Rome,” I say sweetly.

His eyes roam lazily taking me in. I’m in a pencil skirt, a white flowing blouse, and heels. My hair is pulled up in a high ponytail, and by the way he’s looking at me, you’d think he’d never seen a woman in a skirt before.

“How did it go?” he asks with a flare of desire in his eyes.

“Good. I think. I should hear something by the end of next week.”

“This is the one you really wanted, right?” He’s asking, but he already knows. He’s trying to not make it obvious that he has personal insight to every facet of my life. I love him for the effort.

“Yes. I’m feeling good about it.” I wink. He gives me a subtle nod, knowing I’ll fill him in later.

“What’s in the bags?” he asks. He steps close and places his hand on the small of my back, leaning over to peer into the bags. It’s obvious that it’s food. He’s using his pretend curiosity as an excuse to touch me. Something I’ve noticed a lot in the last two weeks.

I can’t believe it’s only been two weeks since I moved home from college and we got back together. Roman has been attentive and sweet and goes out of his way to tell me every single day that he loves me.

He keeps asking me when we can talk to Forrest, and I know we need to, but I’m also enjoying just loving him without the prying eyes of my older brother. There’s no doubt Forrest is going to be pissed. Is he going to disown me? No, he won’t do that, but he might never talk to Roman again, and that scares me.
