"It's just... it's too embarrassing," I finally admit, my voice a hesitant whisper.

Leia, a towering figure of strength and understanding, stands with her hands on her hips, her eyes fixed on me. "Tell me," she implores. "I know you're leaving out important details. Was it something your parents said?"

Of course, it always leads back to my parents.

"Yes," I force out, my voice trembling with the weight of unsaid words and unspoken pain.

Leia, the one person I can trust, plops down on my bed and shuffles closer to me, her presence a comforting anchor.

"The usual stuff, but Lincoln heard, and now I look like a pathetic idiot," I mumble, trying to roll away from her, but she stops me easily.

Leia's voice is firm but full of empathy as she says, "Don't talk about yourself like that."

"But I am," I confess, my words muffled by my pillow. "What if Lincoln realizes that my parents are right?"

"Right about what?" Leia asks, concern etching her tone.

"That he could do so much better than me," I admit, the words causing a sharp ache as they leave my lips.

Leia sighs, her frustration mingling with affection. "Still, after all this time, you don't see how head over heels that man is for you."

I can't hold it in any longer. The words tumble out of my mouth like an avalanche, and I blurt,"My dad said that Lincoln shouldn't settle down with me because he's going to have many opportunities with other women once he gets to the NHL."

Leia's mouth drops open, and she quickly slaps a hand over it in horror. "He did not say that!"

I pause, still shaken by the words I've just uttered. "I was in the bathroom when they said it, but the way Lincoln tried to avoid telling me makes it pretty clear that it was even worse than I know."

Leia's body weight crushes me into the mattress as she pulls me into a tight, reassuring hug. I can feel her arms wiggling under me in an attempt to comfort. "I'm so sorry," she whispers, her voice filled with empathy. She eventually pulls back and flops down next to me. "What else happened?"

I prop myself up on my elbow to get a better look at Leia. "You know, something good did come out of all of it."

Leia's brows raise expectantly. "Oh? Do tell."

"They're moving to Arizona," I announce, a glimmer of hope in my voice.

"Fuck yes! I hope they never step foot in Boston again," Leia exclaims with a mischievous grin.

"You and Elliott are on the same wavelength then," I reply, sharing in her sentiment.

"Yuck," Leia says, wrinkling her nose at the mere thought of them staying in Boston.

"Speaking of Elliott, I need to call him and break the news."

Leia looks puzzled. "Why would you need to tell him?"

I raise an eyebrow. "Why do you think?"

Leia's anger matches mine. "I'm going to fuck up your parents if I ever see them again."

"Same," I mutter, my frustration still fresh. I fumble around the bed for my phone. "Have you seen my phone anywhere?"

Leia snatches it off my bedside table and hands it to me. "You got this, girlfriend."

I take a deep breath and whisper, "Hopefully."

Summoning my resolve, I locate Elliott's contact and press the call button, not allowing myself any time to second-guess my actions. The familiar sound of Elliott's voice fills my ears. "Hey, Sutt!"

"Hey," I reply softly.
