It warms my heart to see them helping each other out.

Nick comments how the other goalie is slower on the glove.

Before I know it, I’m pulling out my phone and taking notes, like the journalist I am.

“Taking notes?” Nick arches his eyebrow at me.

“Nice shirt,” Holt says as he winks and skates away.

“Sorry, it’s a habit when I’m at the game. Not like I’ll get to actually write something.” I grumble. “Dustin put a stop to that.”

“So, write your own story. He can’t stop you from writing. I’ll even do another interview for you.” He wiggles his eyebrows.

“None of that.” I point at him, but he acts all innocent shrugging like he can’t help himself.

I don’t know what’s gotten into him, but he hasn’t been this forward or flirtatious after our talk of beingjust friends. It’s probably just the adrenaline he feels before a game.

He’s about to skate away when he stops and looks past my shoulder.

Alex came down and is standing right behind me.

“Hey. Alex, right?” Nick says, bumping his hand with his glove over the glass. “Nice to finally meet you.”

Great, and now I’m blushing again.

“Yeah, when Lenny said she knew you, I didn’t believe it. Then I saw her wearing this shirt and thought she’s a puck bunny or stalker.” I elbow Alex in his side. “She’s such a dork at home.”

“Alex!” I warn.

How does he even know about puck bunnies? They don’t have those in high school, do they? Do I have to have a talk with him?

I thought I had a year for that!

Nick’s laughing at us.

“No, she’s not a puck bunny. Jury’s still out on the stalker thing.”

Before I can make a comeback, Nick stops me.

“I gotta run, stay here.”

He goes to a few guys, before taking his place in the net.

Alex is in awe. He follows college hockey just as much as pro. It’s his dream to come here, so I know he’s been watching this team just as much as I have.

Greg comes over by us first.

“Hey, Greg Hurst.” He introduces himself to Alex and does the same glove bump as Nick. “So, I hear you’re hoping to come here, right?”

“I play center most times, and take the wings regularly.” Alex nods.

I can tell he’s holding back his excitement.

“Awesome, man. Maybe you can show us what you got before you leave this weekend. You know, just a fun scrimmage.” Greg suggests before putting his helmet back on.

“Yeah! That’d be awesome!” Alex exclaims, failing to keep in the squeak to his voice.

“Alright. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” He skates off.
