“Ok, let’s go.” I snap, pulling him out without looking back at my friends.

I’ll thank them later.

Once the door is shut, Nick pulls me in and plants his lips on mine while one hand grips my ass and the other on the nape of my neck.

“Fuck.” He breaks away far too soon. “I was supposed to wait until after dinner to do that.”

I laugh, but he looks really serious.

“I’m sorry. I’m really trying not to screw up this whole dating thing.” He motions between us.

I lace my fingers with his and tug him to walk to the car.

“Why do you think you’d screw this up so badly? So far I have no complaints.” He squeezes my hand and opens the passenger door for me.

It’s really adorable how hard he’s trying, but I’ve never been one for the sappy romance stuff.

He waits until he’s in the driver seat and the car is started before answering.

“I’ve never done this. You know like go on dates, pick the girl up and take her out to dinner,” he admits staring out at the road.

I think about it, and I’ve gone on dates before. The usual dinner and movie, but they always seem so awkward.

“But you’ve had a girlfriend before, right?” I know he had one when he was a freshman.

She wasn’t even that pretty.

Ok, I’m being jealous. She was gorgeous. Blonde hair, blue eyes, she looked like a model. I was jealous the first time I saw pictures of them together when I wrote that first pseudo article on him to get onto the Drexton Hall Newsletter committee.

I didn’t use that picture for it.

“Yeah, but that was high school. Most of the dates were with groups of friends and with my sisters or our parents as chaperones.” He shakes his head laughing. “I asked Greg for advice on this and so far, I’ve broken three rules.”

“What are the three rules?” I try to hide my grin. It’s really adorable he went to Greg for advice on how to date.

“First rule was not to be late, but I forgot my wallet and had to go back home for it.” He ticks off the first one.

“Understandable.” I nod.

“Second rule broken was to save the kiss until after dinner.” I laugh. I’m glad he broke that rule. “You took my breath away and I couldn’t control myself. I blame your legs.”

“Oh, so it’s my fault?” I tease him.

He reaches over and runs his hand up my thigh to the hem of my romper.

“Most definitely your fault.” He says in that deep sultry voice he has.

I squirm feeling the heat from his touch and how it ignites goosebumps on my skin.

“And the third?” I clear my throat after he takes his hand away.

“No talking about exes.” He ticks it off with a smirk.

My eyes widened. I asked the question. It’s my fault again.

“I like that rule.” I blurt out. “Let’s stick to that one.”

“Sure thing, babe.” He winks and my heart flutters.
