I feel others trying to get to me, but I brush past them. Tapping Luca on the shoulder, he turns so I can snake behind him and grab Lenny.

I pull her in to me, sneaking a kiss. I just saw her earlier this morning, when I left her bed, but I can’t get enough of her.

“Nick.” She whines pushing me away.

“Nothing to see here,” Luca assures us as he blocks us from everyone’s view.

“I just needed a good luck kiss. I get one reporter before every game. Tonight is your lucky day.” I tease as she scowls at me.

I kiss her again, but she quickly pushes me away. “Go. I’m trying to be professional here.”

I pout at her, but she keeps pushing.

“Go. I’ll see you later.”

I let her go, but not without a tight squeeze of her ass.

I turn quickly to head in, but she surprises me with a good slap on my ass, making me whip back around to see her innocently standing to get Luca’s attention again.

It’s not the first time we had to play this game of pretending not to know each other. It’s not that we can’t know each other. I always give her a wave and try to talk to her, but in her words“groping and kissing is unprofessional.”

Usually I’m able to keep my hands to myself, but after tonight I won’t be able to touch her for weeks. I need to get my fill in while I can.

Looking back one last time, I see her comparing notes and talking to another guy from the school paper. I don’t know this guy. I’ve seen him around, mostly at the games. But I don’t like the way he’s looking at Lenny.

I'm not normally a jealous guy, and she’s obviously strictly talking business with him, but there’s something about the way he’s looking at her.

He feels me staring and looks up. With a smirk, he nods at me before I’m pulled inside by one of the trainers.

I shake it off.

No matter how any guy looks at Lenny, she’s mine. She loves me and I love her. Nothing or no one will come between that and I need to get my head in the game.

As much as I hate to admit it, this game is an easy win for us. We’re already up four points. My team is on fire, and I haven’t even had to save that many shots. We’re completely dominating.

I keep glancing over at Lenny and can’t help but laugh at how she’s trying to keep her composure with every goal we score.

Right after the second period, I notice her counterpart getting the coaches attention for a few questions. I take that as an opportunity to get hers.

I miss her already. It’s like I can feel the separation that’s about to happen between us when we head home. I don’t want to be away from her.

“Enjoying the game?” I ask, just trying to get her to talk to me.

“Nah, it’s kinda boring. Are you guys going to start playing for real anytime soon?” She teases. “I mean you’re barely breaking a sweat.”

She runs her hand through my wet hair that I just dumped some water on.

“Mmm. I can think of a way for you to get me to sweat” I give her a wink and my best charming smile.

Lenny throws her head back with a cackle. “You are trouble, Nick Miller. Shouldn’t you be heading in. You’re going to get yourself and me in trouble.”

“Yeah, yeah.” Before I can finish the guy from the Drexton Hall Newsletter comes over to us.

He throws his arm over Lenny, and I’m ready to bust through the short glass divider to knock him out. But Lenny shakes him off quickly, and gives him a disgusted look.

I don’t know who this guy thinks he is, but he doesn’t give either one of us a chance to react to him.

“Jeremy Drake, Assistant Editor for Drexton Hall.” He introduces himself without taking a break before jumping in with his questions. “So, Nick, was your knee injury the reason the Huskies lost last year in the Frozen Four? How is it affecting your game this season? Do you think Drexton will have another repeat without getting a chance to replace you? Are you even fully recovered from your surgery?”
