It is what it is. A one-night stand. Usually, I have those after an exorbitant amount of alcohol. First time I had one completely sober.

It’s a good thing it happened a week before I left for home. I don’t have to awkwardly run into him at the gym or between classes.

I can go home and know he will forget the whole thing. Forget about me, the anxious awkward peeper, who babbled about her family over cheese fries.

I won’t forget.

Nope.

Not a single moment.

But he will forget all about me like the many other sexual partners he’s had.

I’m ok with that. I know what it was and have absolutely no regrets or expectations.

Chapter 2

Lenny

It feels so good to be back on campus. The fresh air, the beautifully manicured lawns, and the happy students walking around the pathways.

This feeling won’t last.

I give it a week. Maybe two depending on how much homework I get.

Being a junior now means there’s finally enough room for me to stay in the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority house rather than staying in a cramped dorm room. I have my own room. A small room, but I picked it out so I wouldn’t have to share.

It came with a twin bed and a desk. Plus, a dresser! I hated having to hang up my leggings for the past two years.

Such a waste of time.

The house is right off campus with the other sorority and frat houses, butright nextto campus.

Whereas the other houses are down the block more, ours is right across the street from the administration building. Being so close to the campus offices, we are definitely not the party house, but we aren’t the partying types anyway.

Our parties consist of game nights and movies. And I love my sorority sisters, well most of them. All smart and nerdy, but we still like going out from time to time. Just not as crazy as the Delta Nu’s or Beta’s.

It’s going to be amazing not sharing a dorm room with someone constantly trying to get me to go to a frat party.

In some ways, I’ll miss rooming with Layla. She was a lot of fun, but it was hard having her try to get me to go out to every party, every single weekend. It just isn’t my scene.

I much prefer my nights in.

Give me a good book or a hockey game and I’m all set. Maybe even both at the same time!Drool.

Most of the time I’m buried with coursework and papers to write. Writing what I want to write about, now that would be the epitome of my dream night in.

I step out the front door and breathe in a long breath of fresh air.

Living right outside New York City is all good and fun when I’m home, but I love the fresh air here. With mountains close to the north and country farmland just south of us. I missed being here.

“Lenny!” Layla calls out from the street.

My gymnast roommate from last semester. She’s super nice and fun to hang out with. By far the best roommate I ever had, but we have nothing in common except that we both work at the Drexton Hall Gym.

I ran down from the porch and gave her a big hug.

She’s short, stocky, and strong compared to me, tall, lanky, and weak. She always thought it was so funny when I had trouble lifting things.
