Of course, she doesn’t know who I’m talking about. She hardly follows the sports at school, too wrapped up in her pre-law classes.

Bridget wants to get into contract law, and Drexton Hall gave her a full ride because of who her father is.

There are a ton of texts from Nick when I hand her my phone.

I don’t even look at them.

I can’t.

We’re done. I’m done.

Unless I have a death wish, I’m not going to get involved with that at all.

I just have to pretend we don’t even know each other.

If I do that, Cora will never know and I can keep my bones intact.

Chapter 21

Nick

Cora has the worst timing ever.

Her admission about missing me makes me laugh, but honestly, I couldn’t care less.

Cora is gorgeous, but I feel nothing.

Even when she talks dirty in my ear and rubs my arm. Nothing.

I’ve been subconsciously avoiding her for the past couple of weeks. I’d respond to her texts with a ‘not tonight’ or ‘later’ just to be nice, but if I see her somewhere I usually turn around and head the other way.

Now, she has me cornered.

I saw Lenny scamper off quickly out of the corner of my eye, but I figured she’d find a spot for us to sit while I get rid of Cora.

Grabbing my gyro, I pull Cora to the side.

“So, look, Cora. It was fun, but I’m not looking for anything serious or any kind of commitment.” I say honestly, breaking up whatever we had going on.

She tips her head back and laughs.

“Oh, Nicholas.”Not my fucking name.I cringe with every syllable. “I don’t want a relationship with you, but I don’t like being toyed with. You’re either in me or you’re out.”

“Yeah I’m out.” I press my lips together, already over this.

I tried being nice about it, but she wants blunt. I’ll give her blunt.

Cora is fucking scary. I should’ve never hooked up with her.

“Fine. Your loss,” she scoffs, obviously thinking she’d get a different response from me. “But don’t think you’ll be able to crawl back to me. Don’t think you can be with any other girl here. I own them. Be prepared for a semester of blue balls, then see how your game is.”

She whips her hair into my chest and storms off. She’s expecting me to run after her. But I won’t. I didn’t expect her to threaten me like that. She doesn’t own every girl at this school, and I only want one girl.

Surprisingly.

Lenny.

The one fucking girl I can’t get out of my head. Cora has nothing on Lenny.
