“Luca,” she sighs and turns in my arms to face me.

“I know it’s a piece of jewelry and a silly piece of paper that doesn’t mean much, but please,” I beg her for this. I don’t want anything more than to call Kandace my wife. “Let me vow myself to you. I don’t want there to be any doubts of what you mean to me.”

With her hands wiping the tears streaking down my cheeks, she kisses me. Fiercely molding our mouths together as one.

“You should’ve saved that speech for the, I do’s,” she says, smirking up at me, surprisingly not hesitating or fighting me on this. “Let’s get this honeymoon started.”

Elvis gave us five minutes to write our own vows, and it was perfect.

I vowed to always make her come first, and she vowed to let me. They weren’t the sweetest vows, and my teammates had a lot of questions about what Kandace meant by giving me butt tickles when they stepped in to be our witnesses. But it was perfect.

My life is whole and full of happiness as long as I have her by my side.

Drexton Hall Book 4

Lenny

“Hello listeners! My name is Lenny Briggs, and this is Pass the Biscuit.” I pause for my introduction music to be added in later. “As most of you know, I have a special place in my heart for The Drexton Hall Huskies. I’ve gotten used to interviewing the major NHL stars, but I’m slumming it here today with the husky’s own, Carter Pierce.”

“Wow.” Carter glares at me over the microphone. “Thanks for the dig. Letting everyone know I didn’t get drafted yet. Real classy.”

“I didn’t mean it that way,” I say and pause the recording. “It’s not live. I can change the beginning.”

“Yeah, let’s do that.”

Asshole.

I erase the bit we recorded and try again.

“Welcome! This is Lenny Briggs and you’re listening to Pass the Biscuit.” Pause for music and a deep breath to get through this interview. Thank god I don’t do live shows. “As many of you know, The Drexton Hall Huskies hold a special place in my heart and I’m here with one of their biggest stars, Carter—“

“Don’t patronize me.” Carter cuts me off. “Their biggest star? Really?”

I let out a frustrated groan and delete the recording before asking.

“I wasn’t patronizing you.” I take a deep breath to calm myself. I should’ve listened to Nick and let him be here formoral support. “I was hyping you up to the listeners.”

“Like you have any,” he mutters, and I want to shove that mic right into his eye.

“Do you want to do this or not?” I glare at him to cut the shit.

“No, I don’t.” He pushes the mic away and leans forward as if he wants to leave, but slumps back in the chair. “But if I want to play, I have to. Let’s get this over with.”

I roll my eyes at him and set up for a new recording. The school is letting us borrow the studio they have on campus and I don’t have it all night.

I clear my throat to start again. “Hello, you're listening to Pass the Biscuit and I’m Lenny Briggs. Interviewer extraordinaire, bringing you all things hockey and the players that make you swoon.” Pause for introduction and strength not to physically harm Carter so he really can’t play in tomorrow's game. “I am really excited for today’s show as I interview Carter Pierce, Drexton Valley’s very own hometown boy, playing for a team that holds a special place in my heart. The NCAA’s Drexton Hall Huskies.”

I pause again, and wait for his protest that doesn’t come.

“Please don’t make me do that again,” I say.

“That was so much better.” He gives a slow clap. “Third time’s a charm.”

“Thanks.” I roll my eyes at him. “I’m not going to lie. I am really surprised you guys made it to the frozen four. It wasn’t looking good.”

“Yeah,” he let out a long sigh. “It was touch and go there.”
