Kandace pushes a package into my chest and walks off with the cart holding both our stuff. I chase after her and look at the dark blue sheet with rainbow dinosaurs on it.
Perfect!
She heads right to the register to check out. Not even bothering to make sure I’m following her.
“I guess we’re done?”
“Yup.”
I’m dazed by her brashness, but I love it. I love her take no shit attitude. She has no idea what she does to me. I love her confidence and crass comments. I love how bold she is, without a care in the world. I love everything about her.
She’s paying and I’m left scrambling to have the cashier ring my stuff up as quickly as she can. Kandace is already walking out the door when I hand my money over. The cashier looks young, maybe twenty. Cute girl, and definitely my type.
You know, female.
The girl smiles shyly at my dinosaur sheet before giving me a once over. Normally I’d be all over that, but I have a stubborn redhead to catch that I am completely head over heels for.
“Hey, wait up!” I call out to her while running through the lot.
Kandace is sucking on a lollipop she bought and walking with a sway to her hips, all while holding several bags in each arm.
“Why?”
“What are you doing now?” I ask while taking some bags off her arm.
She rolls her eyes at my gesture. Chivalry is getting me nowhere.
“Going home.” She takes her keys out with her now free hand and unlocks her door.
“Hang out with me for a bit. I need someone to share these Oreos with.” I wave my bag, enticing her to stay.
“No.” Somewhere along the way, she shut down. “I got my own. Thanks.”
Without glancing at me, she gets in her car and drives away. At least I got athanksthis time.
While hanging up our new awesome dinosaur room divider, I recap Alex on our shopping experience.
“She probably got pissed off when you said you were on the prowl.” He stuffs an entire Ho Ho in his mouth.Impressive.“I don’t know any girl that wouldn’t get the least bit upset if the guy who keeps saying he wants her says he’s on the prowl for other chicks.” He adds with his mouth full.
“But it’s not like she hasn’t hooked up with other guys. Even now, she would jump at the chance for guaranteed good sex with anyone.” I stand back, admiring our new divider. It’s going to be hard not to think of Kandace when I’m lying in bed staring at this. It doesn’t matter. I think about her every night either way. “How’s it look?”
“Ridiculous.” Alex grumbles.
At least there’s no hole in the middle. The last sheet had a small hole that I could see Alex through while I laid in bed. This is more private.
“We can finally masturbate without side eyeing each other.” I announce my revelation.
“Please don’t masturbate while I’m in the room.” The words he’s saying are negative, but there’s a slight chuckle he tries to hide. There’s hope for him.
With Alex’s spirits being lifted, I feel my own hopes getting higher. He’s our captain. If he’s down, we’re all down.
Next, I need to figure out how to get Kandace to open up and let me in.
I sent a text to Willa asking for Kandace’s phone number. I may have an easier time talking to her if she has to read it and she can’t avoid it as easily.
