It feels weird to be hanging out with the team, even though it shouldn’t feel that way because when we are traveling, we sometimes hang out then.

“Are you ready to head out?” Rosie asks me. I don’t know if she can read my distress, but I want to kiss her for making the suggestion.

“Yeah, I have an early morning,” I remind the guys. “Game day tomorrow.”

“I’m going to head out,” Aaron says, which isn’t surprising. He likes to hit the sack early when we are on the road too.

“I will too,” Brad says.

“Where’s Brett?” Evan asks, looking for his friend.

My stomach dips when I don’t see Willow. She is one of the sweetest girls I know but she has a knack for falling too hard, too fast for guys, and then she ends up getting burned.

“I saw her dancing with Brett,” Rosie shares and shrugs. We give each other a worried look. Oh dear. I hope she didn’t leave with him. Brett is forever a player.

I shoot Willow a text and Rosie tries to call her but it’s loud in here, so I’m not surprised she doesn’t hear her phone.

“I’ll head out with you,” Rosie says to me.

“Me too,” Amelia adds.

“Wait for me,” Eden interjects as Amelia puts on her jacket. We all get our jackets on, and I appreciate Rosie stepping up like that because I know Evan, he’s a gentleman to his core and he would want to walk me home.

“So, I guess I’ll see you tomorrow,” Evan decides. “I’ll hang around and figure out what happened to Brett.”

“Sure, have a good night,” I bid to him and the rest of the guys. I don’t hug Evan as I usually would, but that is because I don’t want the other guys to feel weird when I don’t hug them. Or maybe I’m scared I may accidentally latch on to Evan and kiss the hell out of him and hump his leg. I don’t trust myself right now.

We all wave and the girls head out with me. I tell them to keep their cool and not freak out about tonight until we are a good distance away from Focus.

Rosie is the first to break like a fire hydrant spewing water. “Holy crap, Patty, that was crazy,” she shrieks.

“Seriously. The way you two were dancing. . . he totally wants you,” Amelia declares.

“That’s crazy,” I counter.

“Not crazy. He wants you,” Eden confirms.

“No, these guys are good dancers. They are professionals with the ladies. They are sweet talkers. It all has to do with their coordination and being in peak physical shape,” I explain.

“I don’t think so, but if you insist,” Rosie humors me.

“I actually can’t believe the guys came to Focus,” I share.

“It’s because Evan wants you,” Eden chimes.

“No, I think it’s because things have been weird with Evan ever since we kissed, and he’s worried about our friendship. I’ve gotten to know him, and his friends matter to him. I think he can tell that something is off with me,” I confess.

“Wait up.” Rosie comes to a halt. “You did not tell us you two kissed.”

Shit. I need to keep my mouth closed.

“It was fake so his ex would think we are together. I was helping out a friend,” I backpedal.

“Sure you were.” Amelia smirks.

“I don’t know what to do. I invited him to my parents’ for Thanksgiving because I thought it was a friendly gesture, but you saw us dancing. I wanted to climb him like a pole.”
