Stopping to undress each other, they made it into a game of my turn, your turn. Let me. No, me until they were both naked. When his lips found her neck, the passion built even more. Kisses of pure loving heat found their way back to her mouth and brought her quickly to the brink. With memories of their earlier encounter still fresh, she instinctively knew he’d fully satisfy her as he’d done before.

But this time, she wanted to be the one to make him happy. To let him know what he meant to her. She needed him to understand that it worked both ways, or it wouldn’t work at all.

So, using a kind of courage she’d never called on before, she pushed at him to roll over. He did so immediately, and she followed, her body now in the upper position. In control, she pushed away the fears she’d had to overcome to even make this move and looked down at the man she hoped to please.

Using her hands and following with her lips, she worshipped his upper body before moving lower. Her hair had come loose from the roll she’d had it pinned in and fell around her face as a blanket to cover her actions. In the background, she heard Whit moan, his delight obvious. Continuing her maiden journey of discovery, she ignored his delight by finding her own. His hardness called to her lips, and she soon settled on him while his hands wrapped in her hair urging her on.

After a short time, Whit reached down and compelled her upwards, into his arms. He became the aggressor once again. “I can’t take that kind of loving for long. And this time, I want it to be special… for us to be truly together.”

He lifted himself and entered her body, his thrust finding its way into the drenched pleasure waiting. As if using every ounce of control, he slowed his movements. Pushing into her gently, every journey building the sensations, until panting and sweating with need, she grabbed his bottom and held him there so she could grind herself into his heat.

Lost in the wonder, he let out a shout and plunged into her harder this time, driving himself as far as he could before the climax hit him so violently that all he could do was let the pulsations drain him.

He felt her arms clinging as well, heard her breathing intensely, her body writhing in a ride of pure climactic sensations.

Chapter Seventeen

Demi held Whit’s hand at the airport, nonchalantly, as if she weren’t guiding him and yet terrified not to. Some days he seemed to have almost all of his sight back on his left side and other days when they were in a strange environment, it became clear that wasn’t the case. He just had the ability to cover up his limitations, especially when in a place he knew well.

She’d talked to the doctor before leaving his office for the last time and his words of caution were embedded in her brain. “Don’t let him fool you. He hasn’t gained back even close to his full sight. Not saying he won’t… these things take time. But he needs to remain diligent. Dark glasses at all times, especially outside. No bright lights, no stress, no heavy lifting, or strenuous labor of any kind… lots of sleep. You know… all of those common sense rules one should instinctively know. But even more so, he needs to be conscientious about taking the meds I’ve prescribed. Theywillwork in time.”

“Thank you. For everything. I know Whit’s told you how much he appreciates all you’ve done for him, but I need you to know how much it matters to me too.”

“You really don’t need to tell me, Demi. I’ve watched you working with him over these last few weeks, and I believe from the day you arrived, you’ve given him back something no doctor could have. His joy in being alive. I wish you both well.”

Whit squeezed her hand. “You’ve been lost in thought, Demi. What’s got you so wrapped up?”

“How glad I am that this day is here. That the doctor has finally given us permission to fly. I can’t explain it. I’ve only lived in Alaska for a matter of months, and yet it calls to me in a way I never thought possible. As if it’s where I belong.”

Whit lifted her hand to his lips and placed a kiss in her warm palm. “I know exactly what you mean. It’s the way I’ve felt all my life.”

“Norrie and Glen are so happy about our homecoming. I hope they don’t go overboard with celebrations.”

“Oh, you felt the same excitement as I got the last time I talked with Glen. The eager dude could barely talk, he sounded that thrilled.”

“What else did he tell you? I meant to ask earlier but getting ready at the last moment after the doctor gave us his blessing to go, it’s been so crazy, we haven’t had moment to catch up. Did he say if Nito has been around?”

“I asked him, and he sounded a bit put off. Says the… ahh, little bastard slinks around the perimeter of the cabin for sure. He sees his prints in the snow, but he won’t come close. Figures he’s looking for you.”

She grinned, a feeling of relief, anxiety, and silly pride building. “We kind of had a moment. Guess in his canine mind he’s replaced me with his mom. Sweet, right?”

“From what Glen tells me, thatsweetcanine weighs over a hundred pounds now and can take down a deer. Not sure how I feel about him watching for you.”

Demi looked at him and saw the seriousness in his expression. Rather than argue, she decided to keep her thoughts to herself. After all, who knows if Nito would even come to her now. Then their discussion would be for nothing.

“Okay. We’ll worry about that if it happens. Right now, I’m just happy that we picked up some treats for the gang. I know Norrie will love the Vancouver hoodie and Glen loves maple syrup and his t-shirt will look good on him.”

Just then, the call to board the plane sounded, and they got in line to get to their seats early. On his orders, she’d bought them first-class tickets as it mattered for Whit to be comfortable flying. Plus, they were able to get to their seats before others packed on and jostled everyone nearby.

Keeping in mind that this section of the journey would be bringing them much closer to their destination, she eagerly looked forward to seeing Glen in Ketchikan, waiting with the truck to pick them up.

The time passed quickly and after a small lunch they flew into the city that meant home would be only a few hours away. Excitement formed and Demi could barely contain herself. Constantly sneaking looks at her companion for any signs of stress or tiredness, she sighed with relief that all she saw was the same happiness that no doubt colored her own face.

A short time later, they came through the gate and there stood the young man both had been looking forward to seeing. Glen’s excitement bounced off him in waves. Almost dancing in place, waiting in the arrival terminal, when Demi flew toward him, he met her halfway. Arms around each other, he swung her in the air and kissed her soundly on the cheek.

“Gosh, it’s good to see you. I’m so glad you’re home. I missed you a lot.”
