“Thank you,” he says to me as he holds Willow's hand and walks to the elevator. We all follow him, unsure why his wife is coming to the basement with us. But none of us says a word. The elevator doors slide open, and we walk into the room. Mia goes to a table with what appears to be clothing.

Max says, “There’s a set of PPE gear for everyone. Everybody suit up.”

“And Willow?” Mia asks.

Her brother arches an eyebrow, “She wants to be here, so she will be. Do you take issue with that?”

“Nope,” she says as she grabs a jumpsuit and begins to put it on. I zip her up, but my wife looks ridiculous in this oversized gear. Once we are all dressed, complete with masks, goggles, gloves, and boots, Max tells Willow, “Sweetheart, show me the men that touched you.”

There are six men in total, tied on the floor, and Joey is one of them. She points to one man, “He held my hands,” then points to another, “He held my legs open,” then she points to Joey, “While he raped me.”

He gently turns Willow so she’s facing him, “You did well, Sweetheart, so well. You can stay if you wish, but if it becomes too much, you may leave at any time. This is going to be more gruesome than normal. Do you understand?”

Willow nods, “I understand, Max but I need to be here. He took something from me I can never get back. I made vows that I would never be with another. Because of him, I broke those vows. I want to watch him burn.”

This is heartbreaking to watch, knowing that Willow somehow feels like she cheated on her husband, which obviously she didn’t. But the word burn rattles around in my brain, and I wonder if she knows Max’s plans because I definitely do not.

I look down at the men on the floor with wide eyes. More than one has tears and snot streaming down their face. I’m sure they’ve heard stories about us. They are about to find out they aren’t stories. They are true.

Max looks down at each man before settling his stare on Joey, “You knew I stepped back from the business, right? Well, that was because my wife requested it. Happy wife, happy life and all that. Not today though. You hurt what’s mine. I have killed before, but no one in a more brutal manner than you will face today.”

I’m sure they’d love to beg for their lives. However, since they are gagged, they can’t.

Max squats in front of Joey, “Do you know what sulfuric acid does to the skin?”

He shakes his head no, and Max laughs, “Well, you’re about to find out.”

I can imagine him grinning as he says, “Do you feel that? It’s amazing, isn’t it?It’s a beautiful day to take lives.”

As always, Mia laughs uncontrollably.

Max stands to his full height and grabs the man that held Willow’s hands, and pulls him up and over to the tank, of what I’m guessing is sulfuric acid. He grabs him by the hair, and the man whimpers loudly through his gag made of rope as Max dunks his head in the acid.

The gag does nothing to drown out the sound of his screams. I’m sure he’s in so much pain since he’s now biting on a rope covered in acid. Max drops him to the floor, and I’m not fazed by much, but the look of his red, peeling skin is revolting. I’m unsure how Willow handles it, but she seems to be.

Max grabs the man who held her legs and gives him the same treatment. He bites hard on the rope, screaming through the gag before Max drops him beside his buddy.

When he approaches Joey, he trembles and pisses his pants. He shakes his head furiously as if that’s going to save him. He not only raped Willow, but he’s responsible for all of this. Besides, let's not forget he raped Savannah before passing her around like a fucking party favor. There is no saving himself at this point.

Max pulls him to his feet and over to the acid. He attempts to stop so Max can’t pull him while whimpering, but it won’t work. You can’t stop the giant. We all stand watching as Max dunks his head into the burning liquid. He pulls him out and faces him toward Willow. She lets out a deep breath, “I hope you burn in hell.”

Max tells us to follow him, and we do.

“Trevor and Mia come with us. The rest of you slit the throats of the other three.”

We remove our PPE gear and follow Max and Willow to the elevator. Mia looks at me and shrugs her shoulders. The doors slide open, and we follow them to Max’s office.

“Have a seat.”

Mia sits next to me on the couch. Max takes a seat behind his desk and pulls Willow onto his lap, “Much needs to be said.”

He clears his throat, “I’m sorry, Trevor. What you did was fucked up and you deserved to be hit. I should never have said the things I said.”

I smile, “Does that mean I’m no longer unemployed?”

He shakes his head, “Yeah jackass, that’s what it means.”

“Also, I said I was retiring. For Willow and the kids. I’d like to take that back. I want to get back in, fully.”
