Slumping back against the wall, I shake my head. “Wanna decipher what just happened for me?”

Frankie walks out with another tray and bumps into my side with a huge smile on her face. “She’stotallyinto you. She just doesn’t want to admit it.”

Lani nods in agreement and hands me the tray I palmed off to her. I take it back with a sigh. “Sorry, I kinda threw this at you.”

Lani giggles. “Hey, the show was worth it.”

Rolling out my shoulders, we make our way into the main clubroom, and I shrug. “Why do women always have to be so damn crazy for?”

Frankie shakes her head. “Rule number one… don’t ever call Maxxy crazy to her face. I have a feeling a woman like her might physically stab you for that.”

Tilting my head, I can’t argue that point because she might actually be right. “What’s rule number two?”

“Hold on for the ride… because I think shit with you guys is gonna be a goddamn rollercoaster.”

Groaning, I let out a huff. “Great. Just what I need.”

Frankie bumps into my side again as we approach the table. “Hey, the best relationships are the most unpredictable ones.”

I place the turkey down on the table, then risk a glance at Maxxy, who is now busy talking to Ingrid.

I don’t know what’s in store for Maxxy and me.

Hell, she drives me crazy most of the time.

But there is definitely a connection.

And I don’t know what that means for ‘G’ and me.

But maybe this whole pen-pal thing is a lost cause?

We can never find a way to meet.

It’s been years.

You’d think we’d have found a way by now, considering we live in the same city. But ‘G’ always makes up a reason, and I have no idea what that means.

So if ‘G’ doesn’t want to meet me, then maybe I should take a chance onsomethingreal—someonereal, someonetangible. Even ifthat someoneis trying their hardest to deny her attraction to me right now.

Maxxy turns to face me as if she can sense me watching her. Her cute little button nose scrunches like she’s annoyed I’m looking at her. She scowls, then turns back to Ingrid, and I can’t help but smile, loving the fact that I annoy her so much.

It only makes whatever this is so much hotter.

Frankie winks at me. Placing her tray down, she makes her way around to sit down next to Raid. I find a spare seat beside Omen and shuffle in beside his bulky frame.

Hurricane stands, tapping a ring on a glass, gaining everyone’s attention, and we all glance up to look at him. “All right, all right, everyone, shut the fuck up!” he calls out.

The room falls to a hush as we give him our undivided attention.

“This year’s been a big one. We’ve welcomed new life.” He glances at his daughter, Immy. “We’ve lost some people along the way. We’ve had many down days.” He glances at Lani, and we all know what he’s talking about specifically. Then he looks at City and Izzy, and he smiles. “But we’ve also had big celebrations, of which there will be more comin’ soon…” He smiles at Kaia, and she blows him a kiss.

“Can’t wait to marry you, big guy!” she calls out, making us all chuckle.

“Right back at ya, baby. But the one thing that’s always remained constant has been the club’s spirit. You guys, the brotherhood. We’re a fuckin’ family, and I can’t imagine a better bunch of assholes to be spendin’ my life with than you lot! Merry fuckin’ Christmas, Defiance!”

We all raise our glasses in cheers. “Merry fuckin’ Christmas,” we all reply and start clinking our glasses.

I can’t fight the smile that lights my face as I glance down to see Maxxy enjoying herself at the other end of the table. I have to admit—the view is spectacular from here.
