I begrudgingly took the empty seat beside Phoebe, almost grateful they were separate chairs. Though my cock pretty much had deflated at this point, being too close to Phoebe wasn’t safe yet. The need for her still hummed beneath the surface. My fingers still itched to dig into her soft flesh. My mouth, even though I could still sense her on my lips, begged for one more taste.

“I also wanted to tell you both congratulations. It’s obvious how much you two love each other. One look, and I knew.”

“Thank you,” I said. “I’m sorry if I stole the thunder from your day. It wasn’t my intention.” I didn’t realize I’d felt guilty until that moment when Parker sat across from me, looking as innocent as Phoebe once had.

Parker waved me off. “Nonsense. Besides, if I’m being honest, all that attention… it was a little much. It was nice to get the conversation off me, even if only for a minute.”

“In that case, you’re welcome.” I flashed her a smile, one I used on customers in the tasting room many times before.

A blush crept into Parker’s cheeks, and she bit her lip.

“I can leave you two to chat.” And I could go take a cold shower and maybe find some release.

“Oh, that’s not necessary,” Parker said. “I only came by to see if you were busy tomorrow.” She turned her attention to Phoebe.

“We are planning on heading out first thing. We both have to get back to work.”

“Oh, right. Of course.”

“Is there something you needed?” Phoebe asked.

“It’s just Mom wants to go dress shopping tomorrow and well… Mom’s taste is…”

Phoebe nodded. “Over the top.”

“Yes!” Parker exclaimed before settling herself back down. “I thought it would be nice to have a buffer.”

“I really have to get back to the office.”

Parker deflated, her shoulders slumping into the oversized chair.

“Tell you what,” Phoebe said, taking her half-sister's hand in hers. Though looking at them now, the resemblance, they were sisters no matter how you diced it. “Go with your mom, make her happy, then I can find time to come back, and we can go to together.”

“Really?” The excitement in Parker’s voice was not to be missed. It made me wonder why Phoebe continued to keep such a divide between them. Marion was a big reason, but looking at how happy Parker was from a simple gesture on her big sister’s part, Marion didn’t have to be an issue at all. Why couldn’t Phoebe see that?

Parker jumped from the chair. “I won’t keep you two any longer.” She hugged Phoebe. “Thank you so much for coming. I know Mom can be… difficult.”

Phoebe waved her hand. “I wouldn’t have missed it.”

“Laurent,” Parker said and tossed her arms around me. “You’re going to be my brother soon! That’s so exciting. Okay, you two have a good night. Sorry, I interrupted. I’ll call you.”

“Do you need me to call you an Uber, or we can walk you back?”

“No, no, I know my way.” With one final wave, Parker headed out into the night.

Phoebe watched the door for a moment before turning to me. Confusion tugged at the bridge of her nose between her eyebrows.

“Yeah,” I said. “I did not have that on my Bingo card for tonight.”

“I am so confused,” Phoebe said as I wrapped my arm around her and guided her toward the elevator. “I thought she hated me.”

“I see a little sister who admires and respects her big sister.”

Phoebe inhaled, letting it out slowly. “Me too, but this isn’t normal. This isn’t how it is with us.”

“Maybe she is old enough to see the narcissist her mother is and has realized you are more than what she’s been told.”

“Maybe.”
