Page 81 of A Thirst for Franc

“Ew! Gross!” Gio said from the porch, and Franc laughed against my lips, a smile pulling impossibly wide on my own.

“Come here,” I said to Gio, and he jumped off the steps. Both Franc and I sighed, but before we could say a word, Franc scooped Gio into his arms, and we both kissed his cheeks.

Gio let out another ew, swatting at his face. “You two are so weird.”

“Why don’t we watch a movie?” Franc said.

“The Incredibles!” Gio announced, and both Franc and I groaned.

A childish smirk lifted Franc’s lip, revealing that sexy dimple. “I was thinking about a little movie called The Goonies.”

“What’s that?” Gio asked.

“Only one of the greatest movies ever,” Franc said, ruffling Gio’s hair.

“Can we make popcorn?” Gio asked.

Franc looked at me and shrugged. “I think I can manage that, but only if Quinn supervises.”

We laughed the entire way into the house. Gio took off to get Sally, and Franc took me in his arms. “I’m going to take care of you.”

“That’s sweet, but I don’t need you to. I can take care of myself.”

He pouted, and I flicked his lip. “I told you that doesn’t work on me.”

“I know, and I know you can take care of yourself. I’m not questioning that. But you have taken care of me and Gio long enough. It’s my turn.”

“What about work?”

“I talked to Rhone. He’s going to cover me for the week. Only call for emergencies. I trust him… enough, and it’s time I stop micromanaging everything.”

“I don’t want to uproot your life. I’ve already inconvenienced you enough.”

He tilted my chin up, our eyes instantly locking. “You are not and will never be an inconvenience. If it takes me my entire life to prove that, then challenge accepted.”

“What are you saying?” I asked.

“You’re it for me, Quinn. There will never be anyone else, so why not make it a little easy on me, and let’s not drag this out? Let me take care of you.”

I lifted on my toes and kissed the man who had stolen my heart before I even realized it. “What’s the fun in that?”

His hand tightened on my hip, and careful of my arms, he drew me closer, capturing my mouth in a delicious, toe-curling kiss.

“Not again.” Gio sighed.

A laugh burst from me as I pulled away from Franc.

“What about that movie?” I asked.

“As long as there’s no more kissing.”

I held my hand up. “I promise.”

Franc came up behind me and kissed my cheek. “Ido notpromise.”

Gio sighed even louder, and my heart burst with so much joy. I looked at Gio and Sally, then at Franc. My family.

It had been a week since the accident. Mom and Dad flew back from Italy to help with Gio. After they heard about the accident, they couldn’t get on a return flight fast enough. Mom didn’t believe me that Gio was okay, even though he video chatted with her twice.
