His eyes widened. What the hell? “Are you—”

"I’m sorry,” she said, her voice at a normal volume, unlike the quiet murmurings they’d been using. "But I just can’t anymore."

"What are you—" he started.

"Please," she begs.

Had she lost her mind? Had the orgasm on top of the schnapps on top of the long day made her completely forget where they were?

"Savannah, honey? What’s wrong?" Lucy asked coming toward them.

Theo slipped his hand out from her pants even though there was no way anyone could see what was going on under the blanket.

Savannah looked at Lucy. "I'm so sorry. I feel a migraine coming on. It's probably how tired I am from travel and then the tension of driving in the storm. But I feel bad. This is so lovely."

He narrowed his eyes. Well, he had said they needed a good reason to excuse themselves to their bedroom.

Lucy clicked her tongue and shook her head. "Don't be silly. Go upstairs. We’ll definitely see you tomorrow. Get some rest."

Savannah pivoted on his lap—making his hard-as-steel cock groan—putting Lucy behind her so she couldn’t see the way Savannah’s eyes were sparkling. "Come with me? You can rub my head."

He nodded solemnly. "Of course. I'm so sorry you're not feeling good."

"I know I’ll feel better in a little bit," Savannah said. The sly look in her eyes and tiny smile at odds with the whining in her voice.

He lifted his hand away from her just in time for her to flip the blanket back off of them.

And she was still holding her cocoa.

She got off of his lap, and he stood up behind her. He felt like he needed to put his hand on her lower back and escort her out of the room like a gentleman, but he also needed to grab the plate of cookies.

The minutethey were in the room, Savannah turned to Theo. He shut and locked the door, his hot gaze on her.

"Clothes off. On the bed." Those were his only words, delivered as a low command.

She watched as he crossed to the fireplace and turned it on. Low flames glowed in the stone inset.

He kicked his shoes off. Neither of them had shoes on, and it took no time to shimmy out of her leggings and whip her hoodie over her head.

She was not wearing a bra, but she was wearing the thong as requested.

Air hissed out between his teeth as he took in the sight of her in nothing but the little thong he’d bought her.

"Get on the bed,” Theo commanded.

Then she watched him pick up a Christmas cookie.

She loved playing with this guy. She loved a lot of things with him. He made her smile, he made her think, made her mad. But he also made her think about things like how nice it would be to have a home base where she had a guy keeping her warm at night, who made her laugh, who would flirt and cuddle and talk and argue with her. Along with a bunch of friends, and a family that maybe wasn’t technically hers but that felt like hers.

She loved Becca and her other friends, and she’d thought before that New Orleans could be a great home base between her travels, but she'd always put it in a mental box for the future.

Theo was making her want to move that plan and timeline up. She'd already had an inkling that this trip was going to change how she felt about her job, and now every hour with Theo made her more and more certain that she wanted something different.

But Theo thought they were just messing around. He knew she wanted to travel. Was some of his enthusiasm about being together because he knew she wouldn’t be sticking around?

Fair enough. She’d never said anything about being around more permanently.

But right now, she couldn’t worry about that. Because a big, hot, bearded game warden was stalking toward her with a Christmas cookie laden with frosting, and she knew he had some really nice ideas about what to do with that cookie.
