I followed his gaze, and the sight was indeed breathtaking. “They truly are,” I agreed, feeling a sense of peace wash over me.

As we relaxed in the hot tub, our conversation flowed naturally. It was easy to talk to Theo, to be myself without the weight of expectations and traditions bearing down on me.

“I have to admit, the Wed season has been nothing like I thought it would be,” I said.

Theo glanced at me, his eyes filled with curiosity. “In a good way, I hope?”

I smiled and nodded as my hands trailed through the water. “Yes, in a very good way. It’s been unexpected, but I’m grateful for it. I had convinced myself it was going to be miserable.”

He chuckled. “You and me both. I watched my brother go through the Wed season last year, and I have to admit, I was nervous about how mine would go.”

I raised an eyebrow playfully. “Nervous? You?”

Theo laughed, a sound that made my heart skip a beat. “Believe it or not, I was. But it seems to be turning out well, despite the rocky start.”

I snorted. “Rocky start is putting it mildly.”

Theo grinned, his eyes holding a mischievous glint. “I guess it’s a good thing we got the hard stuff out of the way. Now, it will be easy sailing.”

I considered his words. “I still have moments where I feel like I’m falling back into the trap of thinking this is nothing but a business arrangement.”

“But is that what you want, Emilie?”

I took a deep breath, my gaze fixed on the stars above. “I think… I think I want more than that now.”

“It’s okay to want more. It’s okay to want a relationship that’s built on love and trust, not just business and expectations. You can dream about babies and vacations. I need you to understand I’m not all about business. Yes, I know it’s important to keep up with business and there will be times when it’s all work, but it’s not the only thing that matters. We only get one life. I plan on living and being happy. When I’m taking my last breath, I don’t want to be thinking about what a hard worker I was.”

“That makes sense,” I said, smiling. “The dutiful queen is not what I want on my headstone. I want loving wife and the best mom ever.”

“And I have no doubt you will be those things,” he said.

We sat in silence for a while, simply enjoying each other’s company and the serenity of the night. The hot tub’s bubbling water surrounded us, and for the first time in a long while, I felt truly at ease. My body was relaxed and I wasn’t thinking about all the things I wasn’t going to get to do. I was thinking about all the things I would get to do with Theo at my side.

As the night wore on, we eventually decided it was time to head back inside. Theo offered his hand to help me out of the hot tub, and I took it gratefully. The chill of the evening air sent a shiver down my spine.

“Ready to call it a night?” Theo asked, his voice gentle as he wrapped a towel around my shoulders.

I nodded, feeling a sense of warmth not just from the towel but from being with him. “Maybe.”

He wrapped a towel around his waist and reached for my hand. We walked into the dark house. Theo quickly turned on a lamp, illuminating the room with a soft glow.

I looked at him, the man that would be my husband soon, and had to admit I was very lucky. A single drop of water slid down his chest. Feeling emboldened, I stepped forward and slid my tongue over the spot.

Theo’s eyes widened in surprise, but then a smirk formed on his lips. He leaned down and whispered in my ear. “Are you trying to seduce me?”

I laughed and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me. “Maybe,” I said, my voice playful.

I tugged at the towel around his waist. It fell to the floor, unveiling every glorious inch of his naked body. I kissed over his chest and down his belly before dropping to my knees in front of him.

Theo’s hands immediately reached for my hair, threading his fingers through the strands. I licked from the tip of his cock to his balls. He groaned, pulling at my hair while I licked him like the ice cream cone I had earlier. I took him in my mouth. He let out a low growl, his hips bucking forward slightly with each movement of my lips.

I moaned around him, enjoying the taste and feel of him in my mouth. I teased him with my tongue, tracing patterns along his length before taking him deeper and sucking harder.

Theo’s breathing grew ragged, his grip on my hair tightening as he thrust into my mouth. I could feel him getting closer, his body tensing with each passing second.

With one final thrust, he came undone, spilling his release into my mouth. I sucked him dry before leaning back to look up at him.

“Holy shit,” he groaned.
