Iknew what he wanted me to say. I just couldn’t bring myself to tell him I wanted a real relationship. Which was stupid because I did. There was a tiny part of me screaming to be let out of the box I locked it in. That young romantic version of me wanted a Prince Charming.

“I can’t wait to see what you’ll say about the Scotland property,” I said in an attempt to change the subject.

“I’m looking forward to seeing it. I was prepared for something far worse.”

“You were?”

He shrugged. “I guess you can’t believe everything you read.”

“I try not to read anything.”

He raised his brow. “I thought you liked reading.”

“I mean newspapers and online stuff,” I said, smiling. “I used to. I know people think I’m too tall and my boobs aren’t big enough for my body.”

The moment the words crossed my lips, I blushed. I wanted to crawl under the table. His eyes obviously went straight to my chest.

“I think your boobs are perfect.”

It was so ridiculous I couldn’t help but laugh. I was a royal. Absolutely no one would ever say anything like that to me. But it was so brutally honest.

I wiped the tears of laughter from my eyes. Theo had a goofy grin as well.

“Thanks,” I said with a smile.

“I’m only being honest.”

I wasn’t going to be self-conscious. He looked. It was over. It wasn’t like I hadn’t checked him out a hundred times. It was part of the dance.

After our visit to the coffee shop, Theo and I made our way back to the residence we were staying in for our short visit. “Is Jack a good man?” I asked.

“The best,” Theo said without hesitation. “He’s a really good guy. Honest. Loyal. Trustworthy. If you’re worried about Astrid, you don’t need to. She’s in good hands. Any lady would be lucky to have him.”

“Thank you. Astrid is easily my best friend. I worry she’s a little sheltered. She’s been by my side since I was a girl. I’m sheltered, so therefore she’s sheltered.”

“I understand.”

As we entered the house, I immediately noticed something was off.

“Astrid?” I called out.

Romantic music filled the air, and the soft glow of candlelight illuminated the dining area. The table was set for two, adorned with flowers and an array of delicious dishes. It was beautiful. And I was immediately suspicious.

I couldn’t hide my surprise and delight. “Theo, did you plan all of this?”

He flashed a charming smile, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “Maybe,” he replied, a hint of playfulness in his tone.

I felt flattered by the effort he had put into planning a special evening. I shouldn’t be surprised. I knew he was a romantic through and through. He was the guy that planned candlelight dinners.

“When did you have the time?”

He chuckled. “I didn’t. Astrid and Jack did, but it was my idea.”

“I figured.”

“I’m going to clean up and then we can eat,” he said, smiling. “Can you show me where I’ll be sleeping?”

I quickly showed him his room and went to my own to change for dinner. It was a simple dinner, but I still wanted to make an effort. I quickly put on a black dress and spritzed on a little perfume. Theo was in the dining room when I returned.
