Ebony shrugged. “He kept coming in and out with those drugs when he was in a rut. Had all these slurred requests for tattoos. I couldn’t get them all done, but—” He cut off as Rook scrambled on his side.

“Uh… are we—?” But I cut off, too late.

Vex, just as curious, tugged down the sweatpants to reveal the muscular curve of Rook’s rich brown ass cheek, and across it—

Well,damn.

My own grin was spreading across my face.

“Oh my god!” Vex squeaked.

“What did you do to my ass?”Rook demanded, blazing eyes fixed on Ebony.

Drake cracked; he was wheezing and tears flooded his cheeks as he spotted the tattoo. Rook tried to turn, but Vex—still high out of her mind—clutched him tighter and I swear her eyes might have glowed again as she stared at the words.

“You asked for it, mate,” Ebony said.

“What thehelldid you tattoo on my—OW!”Rook jumped as Vex delightedly sunk her tiny little omega fangs right into Rook’s ass cheek—and right across the words:‘Ken to a gold pack doll’.

VEX

Yesterday I had been running on pure omega instincts. I’d felt likemyselffor the first time in a long time. Like I could make change. Rook neededme. As stupid and cheap as any of that might be, it wasn’t any more stupid and cheap than the fact that my name was tattooed across Rook Harrison’s chest—and the whole of New Oxford knew about it.

It was so fucking obnoxious, and my heart glowed every time I saw it.

And he’d promised me a date tonight.

So everything should have been perfect when I opened my eyes this morning.

Itshouldhave been.

Rook was in my bed, still holding me against his chest, the warmth of his body so right against mine. Drake was on my other side and our fingers were tangled together. He was so pretty, eyes peacefully closed in sleep with messy dark hair scattering across his porcelain skin. Beyond him, Love was on his back, sleeping on the far end of the bed.

Almost the whole pack.

Despite this beautiful slice of perfection, I woke with dread.

I wasn’t destined for perfection.

It was then that I realised I hadn’t checked my phone.

Not in a long time.

And—Shit.

Shit.

I hadn’t watered my chia pet.

I hadn’t watered my chia pet, and I hadn’t checked my phone and both of those things wereparamount.

It took me a long time to slip from Rook’s arms without waking him. I had to scent mark a pillow and stuff it into his arms to get away. I had a lingering headache from my injuries, but nothing severe enough to merit pain medications—I’d had more than enough yesterday.
