“I forgive you, Love,” I told him. “I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.”

His lips parted just slightly, a look of reverence on his face as he stared down at me. “But now, I need you to fix it.”

This was a weapon. Trusting him and overcoming the foul circumstances in which we’d met, it was crucial. I knew that. Zeus’s anger, as frightening as it had been, was proof of that. I hadn’t seen it that way before, not until I’d seen the way Cerus had looked at his pack lead. There were fractures in the Lightning pack. With every claim I staked for my mates, I was rejecting the alphas who’d bitten me, scoring those cracks deeper.

And Love was my pack lead. I needed my bond with him to be unbreakable. He’d taken the first steps, now I needed to take this one.

“I…” He swallowed. He sounded rough and unsure.

I slipped to my feet, meeting his eyes where he sat, following those instincts. Instincts I’d decided never to doubt after Rook’s rut. “I think you’ve been pack lead for so long you don’t know how to claim something for yourself.”

“I… don’t know. What if it’s more than that?” he asked.

I tilted my head, waiting. He ran his fingers through the strands of raven hair that escaped his plait.

“I want to claim you.” He shut his eyes. “Iwantto give you the world, Vex. But I want to give it to them, too. I’m afraid I don’t know how to balance it. What if I can’t take care of them and you—”

I cut him off, pressing my finger to his lips and slipping down onto his lap. He groaned, fingers closing around my waist.

“What if it isn’t either or?” I asked. Then I leaned closer, my breath at his ear. “We can care for them together.”

His grip tightened as he shifted me closer, and I could feel how solid his cock was beneath me. It was an effort not to shift over it, to tempt him further.

Finally his grip on my waist vanished. He drew back, tilting my chin up to look at him. His ocean blue eyes were blown with lust. “Will you bethisbefore them?” he asked.

I blinked, considering that.

Heat rose up my neck, enough that it might have been reflected in my scent for the way the edge of his lips quirked up.

“I would be this before the world,” I said. “Tell me what you want, and it’s yours.”

“I want you, Vex, more than I’ve ever wanted anyone.”

He took my hand, tangling his fingers between mine. I felt a smile tug on my lips. Nerves fluttered in my stomach briefly as we stepped from his room, but then I squeezed his hand in mine.

Ididtrust him, I realised.

This time he wouldn’t leave me unwanted. He wasn’t going to hurt me.

So I gave myself over to it.

He led me out to the living room. Rook was on one of the couches, flicking through channels, and Ebony was pouring himself a drink in the kitchenette.

Love released my hand as he settled on the couch, arranging a few of the cushions and unfolding one of the blankets.

Just like I promised, I lowered myself to my knees as he got comfortable, eyes downcast, cheeks blazing.

I felt their gazes on me in an instant. I would have known, even without sensing the way the scents in the room shifted. The caramel brandy turned rich, and twilight grass became sharp as blades.

Finally, Love settled with legs propped up on the couch, and a decent stack of cushions at his back. To my surprise he had a book in his hand.

He reached out, tucking my hair behind my ear. “Alright, Princess, on my lap.”

Comforting warmth slid through my veins at his command, and I rose to my feet.

This was easier than I thought. I could feel the gazes of Ebony and Rook on me, but it didn’t matter. Nothing mattered but Love. It was easy to do this without hesitating when I got lost in his beautiful blue eyes.

I slipped onto his lap, seated upright, legs straddling his hips.
