“You don’t fucking know me–.”

“I don’t need to know you to know you’re angry and pissed off all the time because you got your heart broken.” The words are barely out of Erika’s mouth before Sin has her gun drawn and pressed against Erika’s forehead.

“Chanel, put the fucking gun down!” I roar, they both ignore me as they continue to glare at each other.

“You think you get a free pass because you’re fucking him?” She doesn’t give Erika a chance to answer. “Newsflash bitch, you are just one of many pussies he’s fucked. Whores will come and go but I will always remain because I’m blood. You know nothing about me or my family, when this is all over, it will be me ending you nothim.” That thought has anger brewing inside me, the card may have been dropped but I can’t let it happen. We have never denied each other their kill when we’ve marked them, I won’t let Chanel do it, I can’t.

“Who I fuck has nothing to do with you.” A growl tears out of me at the thought of someone else touching what’s mine, yeah that’s right, Erika ismine. “Like who you fuck has nothing to with, Royal. Whoever he was that hurt you, was it worth letting him go if it meant being angry all the time?”

“Sin’s never loved anyone.” Havoc says with laughter in his tone, we have never seen Sin with a guy before. I look at my cousin waiting for her to deny what Erika claims but when she slowly lowers her gun I realize she was right, someone did hurt Sin and she didn’t kill him.

“I’m going to enjoy killing you but until that time, I have questions.”

“Ask me what you want to know.” I shake my head, these fucking women confuse me, how they can go from wanting to shed blood to talking in under a minute is something I will never fucking understand.

“Why didn’t Chance know who you were and why did you change your name?” I turn around and act uninterested but in truth, I’m hanging onto every fucking word.

“Chance was a means to an end, I told my uncle it was better Chance didn’t know so he would let his guard down and we could see if he was loyal or not. I had always planned to kill him. Martinez is my mother’s maiden name.”

“Why did Emillio tell you it was my uncle who killed your parents?” I hear her exhale as she tries to gather her thoughts to put them into words.

“I have a hunch but I need to prove it first.” Anger laces her tone.

“How are you gonna do that?”

“I’m gonna ask the bastard before I kill him, when I get my answer then you can kill me, I won’t fight you or run, I swear.”

“You’d let me kill you, just like that?”

“Yes, because only in madness do you find a beautiful death.”

“Glad you see it that way because you’ve been marked and no one escapes that, not even you.”

Like fuck will you be dying on my watch, Sirena.

As we near the house Grandpa left me a feeling of belonging washes over me, I don’t know what it is about this house but it feels like home. I know without a doubt that I won’t be returning to New York or UNLV, I’ve finally found where I belong and I don’t plan on leaving. I just hope Sin and the twins feel the same. Havoc places his hand on the scanner to open the gates, the lights are on inside the house, the three of us draw our guns as we creep up the long drive. When we come to a stop I turn and look over at Erika, her gaze is already on me.

“Stay in the car, don’t try and run.” The second she nods I slip out of the car and close the door quietly, I motion to Sin and Havoc with my hands for him to go around back and her to scout the property to make sure Chance’s guy’s aren’t lurking around. When I texted Cable to tell him we were on our way back he said the house was empty but you can’t be too careful. Plus, the sensor lights would have given us away, I keep my gun in my hand as I make my way to the front door, before I can even touch the handle it’s opened from the inside, I lift my gun and aim ready to shoot until I see Cable standing there with a smile on his face.

“Master Royal, a pleasure to see you again.” Lowering my gun I smile at the old man.

“Stop with that Master shit.” The old fool just chuckles, I wave out for Erika to come to me. I wait for her to exit the car and come to my side before walking inside. Cable eyes Erika with concern as he looks her over, when he flicks his gaze back to me I see anger in his eyes. “Say whatever it is that is on your mind.” I demand.

The old man squares his shoulders and looks at me with disappointment. “I gave your grandfather my word that I would stand by you and help you navigate your way through this transition but one I cannot do is work with a man that harms a woman, I can not and will not standby—.”

I cut off his tirade. “I never laid a hand on her.” I grit out through clenched teeth. Cable frowns and looks between me and Erika, the woman in question shifts into my side and smiles.

“He didn’t, I swear.” At her declaration he seems to relax, he tries to apologize but I wave him off. He has no need to be sorry, I respect his morals and appreciate that he spoke his mind and said it directly to my face. Cable leads Erika into the kitchen to get her some meds and offers to change the dressing on her shoulder.

I pull out my phone and text both Sin and Havoc to get in here, I walk aimlessly through the house. I stand in front of an oil painting of him in the living room and smile. Tony Bennett was a fearsome Don, he led with an iron fist but he was also fair. Grandpa spent most of his life hunting for my mom and trying to bring her home except, when he did find her she refused to leave my dad. Mom told me that Grandpa and Dad wanted to murder each other all the time but because they both loved her so much, they knew hurting the other would just cause her pain and they couldn’t do that to her.

“I heard stories about him.” Erika says as she comes to stand by my side, I keep my eyes on the painting of the man I idolized.

“Stories don't do him justice, he was better than any story you would have heard.” I say solemnly.

“I have no doubt.” She whispers, I reach out and skate my fingertips down his face.
