“It’s not your problem.”

“It is if I make it my problem!” He was thundering at me and my eyes were so wide they felt like they were about to pop. I did the only thing I could think of—the only thing that made sense to me in the moment. I burst into tears.

I think he was horrified. He certainly looked that way. He got off me at once and dropped my hands that he’d been holding over my head, but when I tried to jump up and run, he took my hand and pulled me back down to sit down beside him on the end of the bed. I didn’t dare try to get away again.

“Did I hurt you?”

“No. Just my feelings.

“Stop crying. Please.”

“I’m not crying.”

He didn’t dignify that with an answer, as well he shouldn’t have. “Can you at least tell me why you’re crying?”

“I told you. You hurt my feelings. I thought…I thought you wouldn’t mind me kissing you. You slept with me last night.” It was silent for a moment and I sighed heavily. “All I wanted was a cup of coffee. And maybe some eggs and bacon. And toast or biscuits—I’m not picky. Maybe a few of those waffles you were eating. But nothing more.”

“You know damn good and well that breakfast wasn’t all you wanted.”

“Maybe.”

“But if you’re hungry, let’s go back downstairs and get you some breakfast.”

“No, thank you. I’ve lost my appetite.”

“You’re just being difficult.”

“I don’t mean to be.”

“Why don’t I believe that?”

I shrugged and turned to look at him. “I only wanted to kiss you.”

“Connor, you can’t keep doing things like that. I’ve explained to you that I’m not anything you need.”

“But you let me suck your dick in the car.”

He glared at me before he inclined his head. “Yes, I did. It was wrong of me, and I apologize for that.”

“Don’t. Stop making me feel like I’m a mistake.”

“I’m sorry. I don’t mean to do that, but it was your idea, Connor. I still should have stopped you.”

“Then why didn’t you? Why did you let me think you enjoyed it and would maybe even want more?”

“Because I did enjoy it, but…” He took a deep breath and I could see him trying to calm down. “Connor, let me try to explain. Do you know anything about a club like mine? About what goes on inside one?”

“Yes. I’m not stupid.”

“No, of course not. I didn’t mean to imply you were. But you do seem a bit…naïve at times.”

“I mean, I don’t know a lot about BDSM. I guess I know a little of the basics.”

“Do you know what a Dominant is?”

“Yeah.”

“Yes, Sir. Let me hear the capital ‘S.’”
