“Look for the Rosmerta records,” Jensen said. “If they’re there, take photos of them with your phone and send them through to us, please.”

“Sure.” Silence reigned for several minutes. Then Addy finally spoke up again. “You were right, Piper. All of the old records are here. But there’s current ones, too. Looks like your parents have been keeping everything updated.”

“That must be why they kept the secret room locked,” she replied. “Just in case.”

“Right.” Addy coughed to clear her throat. “I’m taking photos now.”

Jensen frowned. “Is it member names and buyer names?”

“Member names only,” Addy said. “Sorry.”

“Shit.”

“The buyer records are probably at the Playground,” Piper said.

My brows shot up. “In that filing room we were in earlier?”

“No. That was just farm-related stuff. The buyer records are probably somewhere in the office. Or maybe the medical center.”

“Fuck.” Jensen’s lips tightened. “We really need those records too.”

“Do we?” Piper cocked her head. “If we have all of the society member’s names, and they all go down for the shit they’ve been doing, don’t you think some of them will talk? I mean, they’ll probably be willing to give names in return for some sort of deal. Kind of like what you said to me the other day.”

Jensen nodded slowly. “Yeah, I guess so,” he said. “It’ll have to do for now.”

“I’ve sent all the photos,” Addy piped up. “By the way, Jensen… your whole family is on the list. Same as mine.”

Jensen’s lips pressed into a thin line. “Yeah, I figured they would be,” he muttered.

“Are you okay?” I asked softly, stroking his arm.

“Yeah.” He gave me a weak smile. “I always suspected they were members. Now it’s just confirmed for me.”

Addy spoke up again. “I’m going to leave now before anyone gets back and finds me here.”

“Thanks, Addy. You’re a lifesaver. Literally,” I said.

“I’ll see you when you’re safe again,” she replied, voice catching a little with emotion. After that, the line cut off.

Jensen downloaded the photos and transferred them from the phone to the laptop. Then he glanced up at me and Piper. “Grab yourselves some food while I finish editing the video,” he said. “Then you can help me with the writeup.”

Two hours slowly passed. Finally, the exposé video was complete, along with the writeup about the society and the photos of member names that Addy had procured for us.

“I’ll post it to Twitter first, because that has the best hope of going viral,” Jensen said, fingers hovering over the keyboard. “Then I’ll email it to all of the Vanderwild County cops and media contacts I’ve found.”

My heart began to pound with a mixture of apprehension and anxiety. “Do you really think it’ll go viral?”

He nodded. “I’m tagging one of the most responsive media outlets in the country in my post, so yeah, I think there’s a good chance.”

I let out the breath I’d started holding when he began to speak. “Okay. Good.”

“I’m ready to post it now.” Jensen reached over and squeezed my hand. “Ready?”

“Yes.”

He glanced at Piper. “What about you? Are you ready to watch your entire world crumble?”

She sighed. “Yeah. Go ahead,” she said. “It’s not like I have a choice.”
