“Oh, no.” I let out a deep groan as I adjusted the tassels on my graduation cap. “It’s happening again.”

Jensen looked over at me, brows furrowed with concern. “What’s wrong?” he asked, gently rubbing my lower back. “Is the baby kicking you really hard again?”

“No, it’s not that. I’m just getting another weird craving all of a sudden.”

His shoulders relaxed. “What is it this time?” he asked, eyes twinkling with amusement. “Chicken and peanut butter sandwiches again?”

“No. Fried chorizo with yoghurt.”

“That’s not weird,” he said, lifting one shoulder in a nonchalant shrug. “I went to a restaurant once that served fried chorizo with a dipping sauce, and I’m pretty sure the sauce was made from Greek yoghurt, garlic, and herbs. It was amazing.”

“Jensen…” I trailed off and bit my lip. “It’s specifically strawberry yoghurt.”

He blinked. “You want fried chorizo with strawberry yoghurt?”

“Yes.” I let out another groan. “Why am I like this?”

He laughed and rubbed my back again. “Don’t worry, it’s better than the time you told me you were desperately craving beach sand.”

“Or last week when I honestly considered having toothpaste for dinner.”

Jensen chuckled again. “I’m starting to think our daughter might have bad taste.” He instantly clamped a hand over his mouth. “Oops,” he said through his fingers, looking down at my belly. “Probably shouldn’t have said that. She can totally hear me in there.”

“It’s okay. I don’t think she can understand English just yet.”

“I’m not sure about that.” He patted my belly. “If she’s inherited your brain, she’s probably already learned two or three languages in there.”

I giggled. “Oh, come on. I’m not that smart.”

“Really?” Jensen’s brows lifted. “You got kidnapped by a crazy secret society and missed a ton of school, and you still managed to wind up in the top ten in a class of three hundred students. Plus you’re pregnant, which has made things even harder for you. And let’s not get started on all the interviews you’ve done over the last six months, which took up a ton of possible study time.”

“Well, I had a lot of help because everyone felt sorry for me and practically threw their notes at me every week, but… I’ll accept the compliment anyway,” I said with a cheeky smile.

“Good.” He grinned back at me. “Anyway, I’m sure I can find some chorizo around here somewhere. It’s okay to have it when you’re pregnant, right?”

“Yup. As long as it’s cooked.”

Jensen turned to scan the enormous stadium in front of us. Hundreds of chairs had been set up in neat rows in front of a large stage, and students in gowns were streaming down the aisles to find their seats as anxious parents and siblings clamored to find seats of their own in the guest area.

Jensen’s eyes eventually landed on a large white marquee at the back of the stadium. It was decorated with black and red streamers and a banner saying, ‘Congrats Class of 2023!’ in enormous silver letters. “I bet the caterers will have some in there,” he said. “I’ll go and look.”

“Aren’t we supposed to wait until after the ceremony before we eat any of that stuff?” I asked, raising a brow.

“Technically, yeah, but you’re pregnant and hungry. So you eat now.” Jensen leaned over and kissed me on the top of my head. “Besides, I’m kinda hungry myself, and the ceremony doesn’t actually start for another forty minutes.”

“True.”

He patted me on the shoulder. “If there’s no chorizo or yoghurt in that tent, I’ll ask the caterers. I’m sure they’ll have something in one of those refrigerated vans they drive around in.”

“Thank you,” I said, shoulders slumping with relief. “You’re the best.”

He stood and looked around, brows furrowing. “Hold on, where did Addy go? I swear she was just here a few minutes ago. Was I imagining that?”

“No, she was here. But she went off to meet up with Eric.”

“Who’s Eric?”
