We kissed for long moments, until tenderness turned to something darker. Lorian stepped back, pulling his shirt over his head and revealing smooth, tanned skin and the hard slab of muscle that was his chest. I let my gaze drift down, and his pants fell to the floor. My mouth watered.

“Now,” I said. “I need you now.”

For once, Lorian wasn’t in the mood to tease. Lifting me into his arms, he took several steps, holding me easily with one hand while he used the other to pull my leggings down. I let out a choked laugh as he tripped on his boot, cursed, and cupped my head, preventing me from hitting it on the wall.

He swallowed my laugh with his mouth, and I let out a breathless moan as he slipped a hand down, stroking the wet heat of me.

“Already so slick, wildcat.”

My cheeks heated—as they always did when he used that tone. And as always, he let out a dark chuckle, enjoying my blush.

“How are you still so innocent and yet willing to be so filthy with me, Prisca?”

My cheeks were blazing now, and I lifted my hands to cover them. Lorian caught them in one of his own, using his body to hold me in place against the wall as he positioned himself against me, immediately thrusting deep.

It was fast and hard and intense. My body shuddered against his as he plowed into me, his steady rhythm designed to make me insane.

I came with a shriek, and he slammed his other hand over my mouth, his eyes wild with lust as I clamped down around him. With a string of curses, he slapped his other hand against the wall, barely holding both of us up as he emptied himself inside me.

For a long moment, neither of us moved, both catching our breath.

He lifted his head, and his gaze was a little bleary. Cupping my butt, he carried me back toward the bed.

Lorian stumbled, tightening his arms around me as he tripped on the same boot. He cursed, glowering at me as I burst into a peal of laughter.

“I’m sorry,” I choked out. “But I’ve never seen you be anything less than graceful. I’ll forever store that away in my memory.”

Leaning down, he gently scraped his teeth over my chin. Despite the incredible climax I’d just enjoyed, I shivered.

“You make me clumsy,” he purred, kissing his way along my chin and cheek, until his lips found my earlobe.

As much as my body was ready for more, I had things to do.

“I need to talk to Asinia before she leaves tomorrow,” I said. “I’d like to speak to Galon and the others too.”

Lorian’s eyes glittered. “You want to leave my bed looking like that?”

I had a pretty good idea of what he was talking about. Rumpled sex hair, swollen lips, several red marks decorating my throat and breasts. But I raised one eyebrow. “That’s exactly what I want.”

Within a few minutes, I’d braided my hair, pulled on my clothes, and was watching, entranced, as Lorian stalked toward his saddlebag for a clean shirt.

“Keep looking at me like that, and we won’t be leaving this room,” he warned.

I took several large steps back and attempted to drag my gaze away from him. But my eyes caught on a stack of parchment he’d shoved aside while searching for his shirt. Each piece was covered with scrawled words.

“What is that?”

He hesitated, and then his head canted, something that almost resembled…embarrassment sweeping across his face.

But he squared his shoulders. “While you were gone, I wrote to you. Some days, it was the only way I stayed sane.”

I could picture him, slaughtering his way across Eprotha during the day, writing to me at night. He would have continued that way for years if that’s what it would have taken. The realization of that was almost impossible for me to truly understand. But I knew I would do the same for him.

“Will you show me?”

He frowned. “I wasn’t…myself during that time, wildcat.”

Curiosity was flickering through me now, and I waited him out. He sighed.
