“I’ve wanted to kiss you since I dropped you off. I thought I was going to spend the weekend having wet dreams about you until Monday, but I’m happy we ran into each other. I want to see you more now than I did earlier today. I hope you feel the same way.”

I nod emphatically. “I’d love to see you again, Hunter.” My inner self squeals in delight. He still wants to see me. Yippee!

“Good. Not to mention you’re supposed to share the details of your eventful first day at your new job with me.”

I laugh. “I doubt what I do for a living is nearly as fascinating as what you do.”

“I think you’re selling yourself short. And for the record, not all aspects of my job are that exciting.” He winks.

“Then I’m definitely looking forward to telling you all about it.”

“Do you want to hang out up here a little longer or do you need to go find your friends?”

Huh? Shit. I totally forgot about Jess and Kevin.“God, Jessica must be looking for me,” I say, panicked.

“Let me help you up.”

Hunter slides his hands under my armpits and lifts me off the sideboard. The way he does it so effortlessly would lead you to believe that I weigh nothing more than a five-pound bag of grapefruit. “Thank you.”

“I’ll give you a hand getting dressed.” Hunter doesn’t wait for my answer. He helps me back into my bra before zipping me up. I smooth down the fabric of my dress, hoping I might be able to erase the telltale signs of this debauchery, but even I know I’m lying to myself and soon I’ll be lying to everyone at the party, including my best friend. I comb my fingers through my hair, but without a mirror, who knows what this crazy mass looks like. From what I recall, the bodyguard did mention before he turned on his heel that there are bathrooms at the either end of the hall, but at this point, I doubt anything I do will make a big difference.

“Allow me.” Once again Hunter seems to be able to foresee my needs before I even have to speak. He reaches out and smooths down my hair.

“You’re the best,” I rejoice.

“To be perfectly honest, I’ll grasp at any opportunity to run my fingers through your magnificent long hair.”

We both laugh.

“I’ll text my friend to find out where she’s at.”

“Take your time, I can wait.”

I face the window and turn my phone on. Jess has sent three text messages looking for me and the last one was five minutes ago. I quickly text her back to let her know I’m on my way.

“Jessica and Kevin are already waiting for me in the limo. I have to run.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, but you and I are definitely on for Monday.”

I nod with a coy smile on my face. I’m so pleased he still wants to see me. “Yes. We are.”

He takes a step closer to me and brings his hands up and cups my cheeks. “Thank you for a great night.” His words are so sweet they take me aback. What a contrast from the raunchy dirty-talking he was submitting me to a few minutes ago. “I really enjoyed my time with you,” he says, dropping a soft kiss against my nose.

“Um,” I start shyly. “I think I’m the one who should be thanking you.”

“You already did.” Yeah, but I should be doing it over and over again. He flashes me a huge, knowing grin. “Ready?” He extends his hand and I clutch it.

“I don’t know. I feel I look like a mess.”

“Not at all. You look like a woman who’s been properly taken care of.” He winks.

Damn. He’s right.
