I slap my hand over my mouth, my eyes growing wide.

He doesn’t say a word. He simply stares at me.

“I like hearing that.” He brushes a strand of my damp hair behind my ear. “I’m relieved I don’t have to track him down and break his legs.”

“You wouldn’t have done that?”

He cocks a brow in response.

Wow.

Someone is possessive.

Is it wrong I'm thrilled?

“I’m going to stop by Todd’s office.”

Dear God. “Why?”

“To pay him.”

“For what?”

“Dear client, this is New York City. My girls don’t work for free. And my undeniable charm alone won’t be enough to pay the rent on my office. Unless you’re piling Benjamins on my desk, you’ll need to dial down the stalker-ism and unreasonable demands.”

I laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

Bryce nails it. I have no doubt those words came out of Todd’s mouth.

“You, sir, are Jekyll and Hyde. Serious one minute. A comedian the next.”

He winks.

He laces his fingers with mine and brings my hand to his lips before dropping a kiss on it. “Let’s get away from my PR drama, New York, Todd, and everything else. Let’s make it about you and me.”

I shift, placing my head on my folded elbow, brushing my hair away from my face. “Where do you want to go?”

Chapter 19

Sofia

Money can buy anything.

Before I could blink, Bryce had made a call to get his house in Bermuda ready for our getaway, chartered a private jet, and sorted out his affairs to whisk me away to this tropical paradise.

Twenty-four hours ago we were talking in my kitchen, and now, we’re here.

We barely had time to get comfortable on the plane before we arrived on this beautiful island.

Since Bermuda is only two and a half hours away from New York, it’s no wonder Bryce has made it his pied-à-terre in the Caribbean. His abode is gorgeous and the view from the large rooftop terrace is breathtaking.

When Bryce said he had a place, I assumed it was a small apartment since he only spends a few days here and there on the island.

I was wrong.

His house is a large multi-story home that’s luxuriously decorated. And there’s even a spa—a freaking spa—in what I thought was a medium-size shed. And a hot tub in the backyard.

Bryce Van Der Linden knows how to live large.
