I sing like I’m auditioning for a talent show as I head to the kitchen.

I pull out my little stove top coffee maker from the cupboard and salsa my way to the oven.

The doorbell rings.

I scrunch my nose.

I’m not expecting company.

I drop the coffee maker on the counter and head to the door.

I get on my tippy toes to check through the peephole.

The earth stops spinning.

Holy shit!

I duck.

Oh. My. God

Knock, knock, knock.

“Sofia, we’ve been through this before. I saw your shadow. Open up.”

I stand up.

With my heart thundering against my chest, I fumble with the complicated set of locks.

Shit!

An eternity later, I open the door.

The man in black enters my home.

Liquid warmth pools in my tummy.

In one sweep, I take him in from head to toe—perfectly tailored black suit, black shirt, black tie I want wrapped around my wrists, and polished black shoes.

I want to drop to my knees and worship at his feet.

He pulls his Tom Ford sunglasses off his handsome face.

His handsome face is more tanned than the last time I saw him.

His presence crackles with electricity.

My pulse beat double time.

“Bryce—”

“Fuck, Sofia.”

He cups my face with his strong hands and kisses the daylights out of me.

The heat of his mouth against mine seers me to the bone.

My question dies on my lips.
