“It’s only nine o’clock,” I point out. “That’s hardly late. You’ve been working like a dog.”

“I guess my body is still wired to get up before the crack of dawn,” she explains.

“As the CEO of a successful multimillion-dollar business, poised to become a multibillion-dollar business in record time, you should be allowed to sleep in while you’re on your mini vacation.”

Her eyes pop open.

“So we’ll both be billionaires,” she smiles wide.

“Seems like it,” I return her grin. “Although, we won’t be the only ones.”

“No way we’ll forget the Dennison brothers. They were my lifeline.”

“Yeah, what about me?” I feign being vexed.

She reaches for my hand. “You’ve been my knight in shining armor since day one.”

“I can live with that.”

“I guess this whole billionaire thing is old news for you,” Jules says. I frown. “You’re already a paper billionaire, Mr. Early Investor.”

“True,” I laugh. “I’ll enjoy every penny of the buyout money Gage’s people will transfer to my bank account, but becoming a billionaire through our sweat equity will be so much more satisfying.”

We stare at each other for a beat, a goofy smile spreading our lips.

“We did it,” she shakes her head. That’s been her go to phrase every time realization hits. “It wasn’t all a dream, right?”

“It’s a dream all right, but we’re fully awake,” I wink.

“I know I sound like a broken record. Thanks for humoring me.”

“That’s what I’m here for.”

We exchange a warm smile.

Within forty-eight hours of kicking off the crowdfunding campaign, we had sold a whopping twelve thousand bikes. At four thousand dollars a pop, you do the math. If the momentum keeps up, we’ll be on track to double that many orders within the next two weeks. Joseph says we have everything required to become a unicorn—a start-up that goes from zero to billion dollars in sales rapidly. In Jules case, she was deep in the red before I came into the scene, making the turnaround even more noteworthy. This time around, Linc was in a position to invest. At this rate, Micah’s grandkids will be set for life. Yeah, life is good.

“A couple months ago, I was certain I was going to end up bankrupt and homeless––”

“Look at you now.”

“Look at me now,” she echoes. “I can’t believe how much money we made in a matter of days.”

“It’s all about having the right partners.”

“We’re a pretty kickass dream team,” she smiles.

“I won’t argue with you,” I smile back. “Joseph is so excited by how well things turned out, he’ll stick around in LA for another couple of months to help before going back into retirement in Ibiza. He texted me this morning.”

“God, that man knows a thing or two about making a boat load of money fast.”

“Shane promised he’d blow our minds.”

“He certainly did.”

Jules reaches out for the iPad.

“I wonder what’s trending today,” she says with feigned innocence.
