Jules’s stunned gaze bounces from mine to the spread. “This is a very fancy breakfast,” she says, fixing her eyes on me.

“My queen deserves it,” I respond with a ceremonious bow. “The next three days are all about you, sweetness.”

Her attention moves to the table for a beat. Questioning eyes meet mine. “You even bought pale pink dahlias.”

“They’re your favorite,” I state.

“They are.” Her voice is hesitant.

I snap my fingers together. “I forgot something.”

“You’re full of surprises this morning, Mr. Aldridge,” she shouts over my shoulder.

If she only knew.

With rushed steps, I enter the kitchen and head to the pantry. I part boxes of cereal until I find what I’m looking for. I hid a little surprise in the last place she’d look. I tuck the small box in the back pocket of my shorts, a sly grin tugging my lips. I hurry to the refrigerator and grab a box containing a small cake. I plate it and place it on a tray. I pull out two mini bottles of champagne from the fridge and flank the plate with them. I grab a couple of straws instead of flutes. Her inquisitive eyes are on me as I walk back on the deck.

“Cake? Champagne? For breakfast?” she questions. “Haven’t we celebrated enough?”

I shake my head. “Silly, Jules. There’s no such thing as too much celebration.”

I place the tray in front of her.

She gasps and her hands fly to her mouth.

“Oh my God!” she exclaims. The sound comes out muffled. “Are you––” Her eyes lower to the plate. “I mean–– Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God.” She shakes her head nervously. “Levi, is this for real?”

I drop to one knee.

“It’s as real as the love I feel for you, Jules.”

“I’m the luckiest woman in the world to have found you,” she sobs.

“I think we found each other,” I correct.

“Okay,” she lets out a nervous laugh.

“When I said the next three days are all about you, I meant it. This wasn’t just about us taking a break from LA. I wanted to whisk you away to a place where it would be just the two of us.”

I shared my plans with Linc because I thought I was moving too fast. He assured me I wasn’t. Everything feels right with this woman.

“Jules, will you marry me?” I read the message that’s iced on the cake.

She sucks in a breath and laughs as tears well in her eyes. “You crazy man,” she accuses.

“I’m crazy for you,” I correct. “I fucking love you, Jules.”

She blinks at me wordlessly.

“I want you to be my wife and the mother of my children. I want to love you forever.”

A river of tears stream down her beautiful face.

I reach up and wipe them away with my thumb.

She grabs my hand in hers and peppers it with a flurry of soft kisses.

“I know it’s fast, but I—”
