I stepped out of the car, wearing a pair of denim shorts and a green V-neck top. I looked cute but not sexy. I didn’t want Travis to think with his dick as we spoke. I wanted us to connect on a deeper level and see if we really had chemistry or not. The previous evening had been weird. We’d both orgasmed and then spent six hours talking about different movies we’d loved and enjoyed. Then we’d talked about books. And different countries we wanted to visit. Then we’d talked about our dreams for the future. He wanted to get married in the next seven years and have as many children as he could. He’d asked me if I had a timeline, and I’d been honest and told him I wasn’t sure. I knew I wanted to get married and have kids, but I didn’t want to rush into anything.

“There you are.” Polly threw open the front door as I made up the stairs. “We’ve been waiting on you.”

“Oh?” I asked her, surprised. “Why?”

“Lily is going off the deep end.” She lowered her voice. “Did you know she had a threesome?”

“Yeah, I knew.” I nodded. “Is she regretting it now?”

“Kinda.” Polly shook her head. “Andrew called her and said he was tidying up his room, and he noticed that one of the condoms had broken.”

“Oh shit.” My eyes widened. “So he may have gotten her pregnant?”

“Well, it’s likeJerry Springer,” Polly whispered. “They don’t know whose condom it was.” She looked scandalized. “So now Lily doesn’t even know which one of them may have gotten her pregnant. And her guy from California is coming this weekend, and supposedly all he’s been talking about is them finally hooking up.”

“Oh shit.” I sighed. “Poor Lily.”

“So yeah, she’s been talking off my ear and Harriet’s.” Polly grabbed my arm. “You need to tell her to get it together. She’s freaking out.”

“I will speak to her.” I nodded as we made our way toward the kitchen. “Let me get a drink first,” I said, running my hands through my hair. We made our way into the kitchen, and immediately I saw Travis leaning back against the white Carrera marble countertops. “Hi,” I said, waving at him as he looked up.

“Howdy there, Chelsea.” He smiled warmly at me before taking a sip of his beer. I grinned at his deep Southern accent. It was so genteel. I frowned for a moment as I realized that his voice sounded different on the phone, and I wondered why that was. “Would you like a drink?”

“Yes, please.” I grinned, fanning my face. “Something cold, please. I’m so hot.”

“A beer?” he asked, opening the fridge, and I smiled weakly. I’d just spent twenty minutes the night before telling him how I didn’t really like beer. It saddened me that he didn’t really remember.

“I’m going outside,” Polly said. “See you in a few?”

“Yup,” I said, grateful that she was leaving Travis and me alone for a few moments. “I’ll be right there.”

I watched as Polly left, and then I sidled over to Travis. “So finally…” I grinned up at him as he opened the beer for me.

“You having a good week?” he asked, handing me the beer, his eyes crinkling, as he took a chug of his own beer.

“Yes, I would say so.” I bit down on my lower lip. “I mean, I’ve been feeling very relaxed.”

“Oh, really?” He cocked his head to the side. “Due to…?” He questioned me, acting like he didn’t know why.

“Coming several times this week.” I giggled, wiggling my eyebrows at him. “I never thought phone sex could be so stimulating.”

“Oh.” His face reddened as he gazed at me. “Well, that’s good to know.”

“What about you?” I giggled. “Feel relaxed this week?”

“Not particularly.” He shook his head and took another chug of his beer. “Work has been crazy.”

“Awww.” I touched his shoulder lightly. “I’m sorry, but that makes it even more special that you said you’d help me in any way that you could.”

“Huh?” He blinked, a confused expression crossing his face.

“With my business plan and setting up the store.”

“What store?” He took another swig of beer. “Was I drunk when I offered this? Sorry, I don’t remember.”

“You don’t?” Disappointment flooded though me. “Maybe you were still dazed from blowing your load.”

He looked at me like I was crazy and took a step back. “Uhm, I’m not really sure—”
