“Max?” His finger was now touching the material of my shorts.

“No, Travis.” I gulped as his finger went inside of the material. “I thought I was texting Travis Chandler, the law partner.”

He just stared at me, nodding slowly in understanding as his fingers continued to caress my skin. He pulled me toward him, and we fell back onto the mattress, my tank top sliding up a little bit. Chandler’s fingers moved toward my stomach and ran lightly across my belly button.

“So you’re saying you thought you were having phone sex with him and not me?” His voice was gruff as his fingers moved up my top toward my bra. “You’re saying you played with yourself thinking it was him?”

I nodded slowly, and he growled, removing his hand and lying flat on his back. “So you never knew it was me.”

“No,” I said, and then because I wanted to be completely honest, “but when I touched myself, it was your face in my mind,” I admitted, feeling slightly embarrassed. “It was you I wanted to be doing those things with.”

“Really?” He rolled over again, a light in his eyes I’d never seen before. “You’re not just saying that?”

“Why would I say that?” I laughed and moaned as his hand moved to my breast and squeezed. He moved me closer to him, and I felt his lips on my neck as he fingers moved across my back and shoulders.

“So it was me you pictured between your legs.” He blew into my ear as his hand moved down toward my shorts. I gasped as he slipped a finger into my shorts and traced along my panties. “It was me you pictured inside of you or was it this other man?”

I moaned as he parted my legs roughly and rubbed his thumb against my clit. I could hear myself breathing hard, but I didn’t have words to speak. The rush of emotions inside of me made it hard for me to get anything out.

“Chelsea,” he growled before his lips came crushing down on me. He kissed me passionately, his tongue sliding into my mouth gracefully, and this time I kissed him back. My hands found the hair on the nape of his neck, and I pressed my body into his. A thousand tiny fireflies went off in my stomach as we kissed. The feeling was magical and amazing and better than anything I’d ever experienced before in my life. Chandler pulled my top off so that I was lying in his arms in just my bra. He bit down on his lower lip and grunted as he stared at my face and then body. “You are beautiful,” he said, his hands playing with my hair before he kissed down my neck. “Was it really me you thought about?” he asked again, and I laughed, throwing my head back as I nodded.

“Yes, now don’t let it go to your head.” I waited to see what he would do next. I was horny and turned on, and I wasn’t going to object to anything he wanted to do next. I was pretty much ready for everything. Not that I was going to tell him that.

“I won’t.” He grinned as he pulled back away from me. My jaw dropped as he sat up and grabbed the remote control and turned the TV on. “So what do you want to watch? I have Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, HBO Max, Britbox, and Disney Plus, in case you wanna watchFrozenor something?” He chuckled, and I just stared at him. “Cat got your tongue, Chelsea?”

“Uhm, what just happened?” I looked down at myself in my bra. “We were just making out, and you just stopped.”

“Because I promised you I wouldn’t do anything with you tonight.” He shrugged.

“No, we said you wouldn’t sleep in the same bed.” I sounded petulant in my shocked state.

“I mean we both know that sleeping in the same bed was code for hooking up or some form of it.” He turned the volume down on the TV and turned to me. “I don’t want you to think that this was about me getting with you or whatever. Especially seeing as you didn’t actually text me on purpose.”

“You’re mad?”

“I’m just a bit disappointed.” He sat back and frowned. “It’s a bit of a blow to the ego, and maybe I’m still processing.” He shrugged and looked away. “I was shocked when you texted me.” He let out a deep sigh and looked back at me. “I thought to myself,Why is she texting after all these years?” He laughed. “I’m an idiot.”

“Why are you an idiot?” I asked him curiously, suddenly feeling bad.

“Because I thought that maybe you’d be thinking about me just like I’d been thinking about you.” He shook his head. “I thought that perhaps we were fated for each other.”

“What?” I wasn’t sure if I was hearing him correctly. Was Chandler Andretti talking about us being made for each other? Did he think we were soulmates? I didn’t even know that men could be soppy and romantic like that. My heart fluttered slightly as I looked at him. The confident, arrogant Chandler Andretti looked like he was embarrassed.

“Nothing.” He grabbed my hand. “I just want to know if I’ve crossed the line in any way?”

“I mean, maybe when you told Jacob to dump me.”

“I love my brother, but he was a fool and not good enough for you.” He grunted. “I wish that I’d been the one you spoke to on that day.” He ran his fingers thought his dark, silky hair, and my heart jumped. Was he being serious? Had he known that I’d actually thought the same thing? Had he known that he was the one I’d been most attracted to when I’d met the brothers?

“I don’t know what to say.” I licked my lips nervously.

“You don’t have to say anything.” He smiled. “What do you want to watch?”

“Ooh, I think the new season ofOnly Murders in the Buildingis out on Hulu. I’d love to watch that, if you’re interested.”

“That’s the show with Steve Martin and Martin Short?” he asked, and I nodded. “Sure, I saw the first season, and I loved it.”

“Oh, but it’s season three that just came out,” I exclaimed. “You have to watch season two first.”
