“I knew you would come around.” He grinned and then looked back at Chandler. “Well, bro, I guess you were wrong.” He winked in an overdramatic way. “I guess she did wanna bounce on my cock, after all.” He turned back to me, his eyes looking me over like a prize horse, and I knew I couldn’t take any more of this. I jumped up, ran to Chandler’s bedroom, grabbed my phone and bag, and headed to the front door.

“Chelsea, wait, let me at least take you home,” Chandler asked, a frantic energy in his voice as he hurried after me.

“No, thanks.” I shook my head. “Sorry, but this was a mistake.” I hurried out the front door and grabbed my phone. I debated between calling a Lyft and calling Lily to come and pick me up when Polly’s name appeared on the screen. “Hello?” I answered frantically.

“Chelsea?” She sounded surprised. “Why do you sound so breathless?”

“I’m running.”

“For fun?”

“Of course not,” I snapped. “When do I run for fun?”

“What happened? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine, and I don’t wanna talk about it right now. What’s going on?” I stopped at the corner and doubled over, completely out of breath. I was glad to see that neither Chandler nor Jacob had followed me.

“So guess what?”

“What?” I asked, bringing the Lyft app up on my phone.

“Travis feels bad about what happened.” She giggled. “And I think slightly intrigued.”

“Yeah, so?”

“I think he wants to ask you out on a real date at some point. But he wants to see how y’all get on at the camping event first, to see if you’re compatible.”

“And you and Harriet are okay with this?”

“I think we both decided that if that’s what you want, you can go for it.” She laughed. “I mean, you already went behind our backs.”

“I guess,” I said, blinking. “So now, Travis is interested in me?”

“He said he thinks you’re cute and quirky. That’s what he told Max.”

“Cute and quirky?” I wrinkled my nose. “That’s not the best compliment I’ve ever received.” I thought back to Chandler calling me beautiful and saying he wanted to take me on dates. That seemed sweeter than Travis, but then again, Travis hadn’t been messing around with half of Port Sunshine.

“I think he doesn’t wanna rush into anything if it’s not going to work out,” Polly said quickly. “Which makes sense, right?”

“Yeah, I guess.” I shrugged. “Hey, sis, my Lyft is nearly here. Can we talk later?”

“Sure, but the reason I was calling was because he wants to do the camping trip next weekend. Are you down?”

“I don’t know,” I said, not feeling like roughing it in the wild anymore.

“He said you said you loved camping.” She giggled, and I groaned.

“Fine, maybe.” I heard my phone beep, and I saw that Chandler was calling me. I glared at the screen and sighed. “I’ll let you know in a day or so.”

“Sounds good. Wanna grab dinner tonight?”

“Sure,” I said, breathing a sigh of relief as the car pulled up right next to me. “I’ll call you back later, okay?”

“Okay,” she said. “Bye.”

I clambered into the back of the car, leaned back, and closed my eyes. My life was a literal hot mess, and I had no idea what to. I couldn’t believe that just weeks ago I’d been feeling sorry for myself at having no men, and now I had several men after me. I just wasn’t sure if any of them were really any good. I knew for a fact that I didn’t want Jacob, but I wasn’t so sure about Chandler and Travis. Both of them had turned my head at one point, but I just wasn’t sure if either of them was good enough for me. If I was honest, I wanted Chandler. I thought he was hot, fun, flirty, sexy, and he had amazing charisma. But he seemed like a man whore, and I wasn’t really sure if I could trust him. Then there was Travis; he was hot and smart, and now it seemed like he was interested in me. I just hadn’t felt that much chemistry with him in person. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. I wasn’t sure how I was going to move forward. All I knew in that instance was that I need to go home and have a nap. I’d slept well the night before, but I was suddenly feeling super exhausted.
