“Plottinga course toTranqPrimeusingwormholes,”Fiercesaid dryly.

“Thankyou.”Celiacrossed her arms over her breasts. “I’msorry if it’s inconvenient.AllIknow is thatKattold me we should take wormholes, just in case.Ifthat’s going to be a problem,Ican probably find some otherKindredto take me toTranqPrimeto hunt for the jewel moss,” she added, looking atFierce.

“No, no,”Holdsaid quickly. “Nota problem, my lady.Thegrottos where the jewel moss grows are remote andI’veheard they can be dangerous.FierceandIwant to be with you to protect you.”

“Dangerous?Really?”Celiafrowned.

“Mainlyjust too fucking cold,”Fiercegrowled, as he punched coordinates into the control panel.

“ButifKatmade you a warm suit, you should be all right,”Holdadded.

“Shedid.”Celianodded.

“Thenwhy aren’t you wearing it?”Fiercedemanded.

“BecauseIthoughtI’dwait and change when we got there.Idon’t want to get overheated,”Celiasnapped.Ugh—why was it thateverythingtheDarkTwinsaid annoyed her?

“Thatmakes sense,”Holdremarked. “FierceandIaren’t going to put on our extra furs until we land near the grotto either.”

“Which, uh, grotto are we headed for?”Celiaasked. She’dheard thatTranqPrimewas a planet where everyone lived underground in huge caves called “grottos” and she wondered which one they were going to see.

“CommanderSylvangave us the coordinates of an abandoned grotto he said has lots of jewel moss,”Holdtold her.

“Oh—so we don’t get to meet any of the people?”Celiawas rather disappointed.

“Believeme, you’re not missing anything—TranqPrimeisn’t exactly the most welcoming place.”Fiercefinished punching in the coordinates and grasped the steering yoke. “Thegrotto we’re going to is pretty far from the more populated part ofTwinMoons, soCommanderSylvanadvised us to take weapons and emergency supplies, just in case.”

“I’vegot everything we should need for an overnight stay,”Holdconfirmed.

“Wait—anovernightstay?”Celiafrowned. “Whyovernight?”

“Becausewe’ll be hiking into the back caverns of the grotto to find the moss—it only grows deep underground,”Fiercegrowled. “That’sgoing to take some time and we don’t want to go back to the ship when it’s dark—we have to wait for daylight.Otherwisewe’ll all be fuckingV’rannachow.”

“What’sthat?”Celiademanded.

“AV’rannais a large carnivore that lives onTranqPrime,”Holdexplained. “Butthey mainly roam the tundra—we should be safe from them inside the grotto we’re going to.”

“Oh…okay.”Celianodded. “Er…thank you for taking me,” she added, speaking to both of them, though she looked more atHold. “Ihope it’s not an imposition.”

“Spendingtime with you is never an imposition, my lady,” theLightTwinmurmured and gave her a smile that nearly melted her.Whycouldn’tFiercebe as charming as his brother, she wondered?

“We’lltake you anywhere you want—as long as it’s not back down toEarthto that stupid fiancé of yours,” theDarkTwinremarked, as he pulled back on the yoke.

Celiashot him an angry look.

“That‘stupid fiancé’ is the manI’mgoing to marry,” she informed him.

“What?Afterthe way he treated you yesterday?”Fiercelooked down at her with a frown and then back at the viewscreen, where the stars were zipping by.

“Wehad a fight—that’s all,”Celiasaid defensively. “Allcouples fight—it’s not a big deal.”

“Well,Ididn’t see him calling this morning to apologize,”Fiercepointed out.

“Hejust needs some time to cool off—that’s all.Plus, he’s probably busy—he helps his mother run the family business, since he’s the only son,”Celiasaid defensively. “He—oh!What’sthat?”

Shewas pointing to the viewscreen where an enormous, swirlingthinghad appeared.Itlooked toCelialike what you saw when you looked in a kaleidoscope—a mass of swirling colors bigger than the ship—blue and gold and purple and green.

“Thatis a wormhole, just as you requested, lelka,”Fiercegrowled. “Howabout if we all be fucking quiet now soIcan navigate it?”
