“Yourwish is my fucking command, sweetheart,”Fiercegrowled. “Preparingto enter the wormhole.”
Celialooked at the mass of swirling colors on the viewscreen and frowned.Wasit…different somehow?Thecolors she saw looked muted, as though someone had added a dab of gray to every one.Before, the wormhole’s brilliance had startled her.Nowit just looked drab.
“Hey,” she said. “Doesthe wormhole lookoffto you?”
“Whatare you talking about?”Fiercegrowled. “Awormhole is a wormhole.”Heshot her an angry look. “Andwewouldn’thave to use one to get home if you weren’t afraid you might be pregnant with some other male’s brat.”
Celiasucked in a breath.

“Fierce!Thatwascompletelyout of line!”
“Well, what the fuck do you want me to say?”Fiercegrowled, glaring at his brother overCelia’shead. “It’strue, isn’t it?Ifshe wants to go back to that stupid weak human and have his fucking human baby, that’s her choice!”
“I’msittingright here!”Celiasnapped. “Stoptalking about me likeI’mnot right beside you!AndIneversaidIwaspregnant—Katjust told me to take wormholes instead of folding space!”
“Fine.Solet me navigate this wormhole now and take youbackwhere youcame from!”Fiercesnarled.

Andthey then flew into the wormhole and everything went wrong.

FIERCE
Fierceknew something was wrong the moment they entered the wormhole’s mouth.Allthe instruments on the panel started going crazy, varying wildly and flashing alarms.
Ifthat wasn’t a big enough indication, the long range shuttle also began rocking violently, as though it was being battered from every direction.Henearly lost control of the steering yoke as some strange force tried to rip it from his hands.
“Whatin theSevenHellsis going on?”Holdshouted andFiercecould feel his urgent fear through theirTwinBond.Celia, meanwhile, had gone silent but her eyes were huge and dark and she was clutching the straps of her harness with both hands.
Infact, it was a good thing that all of them were strapped in—otherwise they would have been flying all over the cockpit together!
“Warning…warning…warning…”a mechanical voice began speaking over theCom-link.“Hullbreach imminent…life support systems failing…Nav-com off-line…”
Grimly,Fierceheld on to the steering yoke and tried to keep the ship in alignment.Somehowthe perfectly stable wormhole they had used to get toTranqPrimemust have destabilized itself.Ifhe didn’t get them through it, the ship was going to be torn apart!
Takinga breath, he punched the fuel—they had to get out fast or they were going to disintegrate right here in the guts of the wormhole!
Fora minute, it seemed he had made everything worse.Theshaking became so violent it was all he could do to hold on to the yoke.Hecould hear the furniture in the living area behind them being thrown around and the forces being exerted on his body were almost too great to bear.

Butjust as he was certain the ship was about to shake itself apart into tiny pieces and leave the three of them floating in space, they finally came out the other side.
Theshaking stopped as abruptly as it had started and the ship was still.Somewherean alarm klaxon was going off and the ship’s mechanical voice was still listing all the systems that were damaged or failing but at least everything was still.
“MadredeDios,”Celiawhispered. “Is…is it over?”
“Ithink so.”Hold’svoice was hushed and uncertain. “Brother?” he asked, looking atFierce.
