Tears spill from my eyes. It’s been a really hard journey with Kastian, so much death and pain. But in the end he was always there for me.Always.

“I love you too. Forever, till the end of time, I’ll love you.”

I look up at him and my shaky smile must tell him everything he needs because a tear falls from his face too, and we’re crashing into one another again. His dick presses in to the hilt and he fucks me so slow but ruthlessly hard, pulling out almost to the tip and then slowly pushing in until there’s no more room for him and he’s pressing hard against my cervix. His breaths are shortening and he watches me through hooded eyes.

Fuuuck.

He’s right, this isn’t just sex. We are literally connecting our souls together—dancing with the sorrows and pain that we share. It’s so close to the sensation of bonding. I’m falling into oblivion with each thrust and kiss, further and further until I’m coming. He pushes in one last time and holds his pelvic bone against me as he spills inside me. Our auras merge and I can feel the same sensation I did in the hot spring. Like our beings are calling for one another, begging to join and become one.

We continue kissing and sharing this moment. When I open my eyes, his blue gaze is taking in each expression I make. I’ve wanted this—needed this.

Kastian.

“Forever mine,” I murmur as I press kisses on his cheek and neck. He laughs and slowly pulls out, leaving me empty, and it feels so wrong. I want to go again.

“Always,” he whispers as he presses a kiss to my forehead.

Kastian takes a deep breath and then leans up, staring down at me.

“I think your friend is here.”

What?

I peek around Kastian’s shoulders and Rune’s standing there with his arms crossed and heat in his eyes.

Elodie

Rune’s horns are dripping with melting snow. His eyes flick to mine as I quickly pull my dress down.

Heat fills my cheeks—how much did he see? Did Kastian know he was here while we were… Oh, gods.

“Rune,” I whisper. Kastian pulls his pants on and presses a kiss on my lips as he helps me off the bed. I run over to my Dreadius and crash into his open arms. “I’m so happy you’re here.” His musky, metallic scent fills me and I feel so content with both of my males here.

Kastian clears his throat. “Well, you’ve officially been welcomed into the group, I guess.” He smirks and Rune just nods in return. Their exchange is curt, but I have a feeling they got off on the wrong foot. Their expressions seem much less heavy now.

My stomach growls and they each raise a brow at me. I can smell the stew Wren’s making downstairs and I’m absolutely starving.

“Dinner’s on! Hurry up, you noisy assholes!”

I laugh, embarrassed that we just got called out like that. “Let’s go eat before Wren has an aneurysm.”

Marley hands Rune a steaming cup of tea as we take our seats. I smile when Rune takes it graciously from him and rubs the Moss Sparrow’s head in thanks. I think back on the sweet little girl that handed him the flower and how he kept it.

“You’re welcome!” the boy chirps and then turns to me. “Would you like a cup, Elodie?” I nod my head and sit next to Rune, Wren on my other side and Kastian across from us.

It’s a quiet meal. We all just sort of take everything in. How weird this is that we’re sitting at Wren’s table in Caziel, together again, like a family. My heart wrenches at the thought of losing this ever again, but we’re not entirely whole… Arulius isn’t here. Moro and Margo too. I want to cry just thinking about seeing her tomorrow. I won’t ever let her go again.

Once we finish up and get the dishes put away, Marley gives Wren a hug and it’s the softest I’ve ever seen the Cypress with another person. He returns the affection like a father and it melts my heart. “Thanks for all your help today, bud. Why don’t you go rest.”

“Okay, I’m heading to bed then. It’s waaaay past my bedtime.” He lets out a long yawn and then hugs me too. I want to scoop him up and never let anything bad ever happen to him. He trots out of the kitchen and to the bedroom on the other side of it.

Rune leans back in his chair and sips his tea as he side-eyes me. Obviously he wants an explanation about what the hell happened back in Nesbrim. I don’t blame him. I’d want one too, and I sure as hell wouldn’t be as patient as he’s being.

I suck in my lower lip and look at the tattoos on his arms as I take a deep breath to explain.

“I walked in on Kastian being bled dry and tortured… and at that point I snapped. It was all for nothing. All my pain and suffering to keep you all safe… it was for nothing.” I look across all their faces slowly.
