“Oh.” Dani pulled her cell out and punched a button. His phone rang, and she started laughing. “Tarzan yell. Are you kidding me?”

The amusement in her voice made him grin. “That’s only for people who are not in my contact list. Once I put you there, you’ll get your own ring tone.” With his job, it was easier to assign ring tones. Plus, it was kind of fun. “Be careful driving home.”

She chuckled and shook her head as she placed her phone on the passenger seat. “Protective Doms. I can call you, but you can’t take your phone into the club.”

“Humor me.” Gabriel stepped away as she put her vehicle into gear and backed out. He kept his gaze on her car until he could no longer see it. Tonight was a new beginning for both of them. And this time, he wouldn’t screw it up.

Turning, Gabriel walked back into the club, but he didn’t go inside. Instead, he stood by the doors. Lucky for him, Max was in the reception area. “Have a second?”

“What’s up? Sierra is waiting for me,” Max said.

“This shouldn’t take long. I messed up with Dani more than once.”

“It looks like things are better now.”

That was Max calling it as it was. “I’m pretty sure she’s going to agree to give me a chance, and I don’t want to mess it up again.”

“What do you need from me?”

“Advice. I got advice at the Dom meeting, but I’d like to hear from you.”

“No one is perfect, but Dani is more experienced now. You read her questionnaire. Did she tell you about San Francisco?”

“She did.” Did she leave something out of the story? His gut clenched.

“Good. She has more experience than I think you realize.”

“She told me she’s more of a novice.”

Max chuckled. “Why is it some subs either think they’re not experienced enough or they’re over-experienced. There is no middle ground with them.” He shook his head. “Go with your instincts. I don’t think you’ll scare her this time.”

“I hope you’re right, because I’m going to be honest with you, Max. If this goes sideways, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I enjoy the club, but I don’t think I can tolerate seeing Dani play with another Dom.”

“I don’t believe you need to worry about that. But I’ll tell you what I’ve told all the other Doms. Don’t go in making problems. Go in with solutions.”

“That makes sense. Thanks for taking time. Enjoy your evening with Sierra.” Gabriel turned and walked out to his truck. He sat there, thinking about what Max said until his phone rang; the Tarzan yell made him smile.

“Hey, Dani.”

“You assigned me a ring tone that fast?”

The laughter in her voice lightened this heart and his mood. “Not yet. I need to come up with something perfect for you. Are you home?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Thank you for calling me. I’ll give you a call Monday. I’d like us to have dinner together.”

“Sounds good.” He could hear her yawn over the phone. “Good night, Gabriel.”

“Sweet dreams.” Gabriel tossed his phone onto the passenger seat. He had a lot to think about, but he also had plans to make.

He was going to do things the right way with Dani this time. There would be no reason for her to run from him.

Gabriel pulled up in front of Dani’s apartment Monday evening. After all the advice he’d gotten at the Dom meeting yesterday, he thought long and hard about where to take her to dinner. He ended up making a reservation at The Aztec Chef.

He’d been lucky and was able to put in a request for one of the private booths in the back of the restaurant. It would give them some privacy. Gabriel stopped at the double door entrance to Dani’s building and pressed the button for her apartment.
